Icarus Sailing Media seeks 'Voice of sailing'

by Icarus Sailing Media on 27 Feb 2014
’Voice of sailing’ sought © Icarus Sailing Media http://www.icarussailingmedia.com/
Icarus Sailing Media is searching for a unique individual to become the new voice of sailing and work with us to present and commentate on our pre-recorded and live sailing programmes.

As part of the continued expansion of our media team, we are looking for somebody who can become our 'voice of sailing' and commentate on the many events Icarus Sailing Media covers around the world.

Panos Marinopoulos, Head of Marketing for Icarus Sailing Media, said, 'Whilst a knowledge of and passion for sailing are important, what we are seeking is that special voice which can share the excitement of sailing and appeal to an international audience.'

As well as having an excellent knowledge of sailing, you will need the ability to mix facts and figures into a commentary to keep an audience informed and entertained. The commentary work will be a mix of live and pre-recorded, so as well as presenting from a script, you will need confidence and a cool head to respond to the demands of a live broadcast, even when it is full action all around.

As the 'face and voice' of Icarus Sailing Media, you will be a key part of our team who produce and present event reports, sailing documentaries, sailing team programmes and more. Our engagement with sailing is broad, from Olympic sailing to kiteboarding, offshore sailing to keelboat racing, windsurfing to youth - we work with events all over the world. Just as the performance of the teams on the race track is important, your performance as a presenter will be key to keeping the audience engaged and wanting to know more. You will need ultimate professionalism and a competitiveness to deliver your best, always alert to use plain English.

You will need the background knowledge and ability to interview sailors, and find those nuggets of information, which will tell the story of the event and introduce the characters behind our sport. You will need to demonstrate an authoritativeness and passion for what you are presenting in a confident and charming manner.

Few production teams can match Icarus Sailing Media for the sheer scope of the sailing events we cover. Come and be part of our team.

Interested? Then in the first instance contact:

Fotis Georgopoulos
e-mail: fgeorgo@icarussailingmedia.com

We will then send you an information pack with further details on applying for this position. We will request interested candidates to submit a CV and show reel to demonstrate your presenting ability and voice.
