Maersk Line, socio de transporte de Volvo Ocean Race

La mayor compañía de transporte marítimo del mundo, Maersk Line, es el operador de transporte oficial de Volvo Ocean Race, la competición deportiva más dura y larga que existe. La vuelta al mundo a vela comenzará el 4 de octubre de 2014 en Alicante y terminará el 27 de junio de 2015 en Gotemburgo tras recorrer nueve etapas a través de cinco océanos.

'La Volvo Ocean Race trata sobre destreza náutica, trabajo en equipo, superar retos, ser innovador y estar en conexión con el medio ambiente,' explica Stephen Schueler, Director Comercial de Maersk Line.

'Nuestro lema: 'Tu promesa. Entregada' está basado en nuestra manera de crear soluciones seguras y simples para que nuestros clientes puedan cumplir sus promesas con sus clientes,' explica Schueler.

Maersk Line será responsable de transportar dos lotes de 90 contenedores de 12 metros. Los dos lotes estarán formados por conjuntos idénticos de equipamiento de la organización y de los Race Villages. Cada lote por tanto hará la ruta alternando puertos para asegurar que cada Race Village se instala a tiempo para recibir a los equipos y los miles de visitantes que acuden a los puertos anfitriones.

'Es clave para los equipos y los puertos, además nosotros y nuestros patrocinadores dependemos de la logística, así que nadie mejor que Maersk Line podría hacerlo. Estamos encantados de darles la bienvenida al equipo de socios de nuestra regata', afirma el director general de Volvo Ocean Race, Knut Frostad.

La tarea confiada a Maersk Line es todo un reto. Sin embargo, con 550 navíos, 32.000 empleados y 325 oficinas en 135 países, Maersk Line tiene un alcance global y una experiencia inigualable. Se sacará el máximo partido a estas características en la Volvo Ocean Race, cuya ruta comienza en Alicante y pasa por Ciudad del Cabo (Sudáfrica), Abu Dhabi (EAU), Sanya (China), Auckland (Nueva Zelanda), Itajaí (Brasil), Newport (EE.UU), Lisboa (Portugal), Lorient (Francia) y Gotemburgo (Suecia). Entre Francia y Suecia habrá una parada técnica de 24 horas en La Haya (Países Bajos).
