ORC World Championships are being held in Kiel-Schilksee, from August 2nd to 9th 2014. The X-Yachts shipyard will support the ORC World Championships as event sponsor.

From Ancona/Italy, where the official ISAF offshore world championship took place this year, the event will return to the North of Europe next year, close to the home venue of the well-known shipyard. Out of expected approximately 100 yachts, 45 yachts coming from nine nations have already registered. 'We are happy to welcome the 2013 and 2012 world champions and vice champions', says Nikolaus Rickers, General Manager of Kieler Yacht-Club marketing agency Point of Sailing. 'We are curious to see how many X-Yachts will register, because at the worlds 2012 in Helsinki 27% of the participants were X-Yachts. Up to the present they are most strongly represented for 2014 holding 24% of the registrations.'

It will be very exciting to see the battle of generations when X-Yachts of different decades will compete in the event. Back in the eighties X-Yachts already successfully designed ships for the IOR-Scene and after 30 years those yachts are still promising at sailing regattas. In Kiel a wide range will be present: the older X 332 series ('Patent 3', 'Sportsfreund', 'CHINOOK') as well as the X 362 ('Passion X') or IMX 40 ('FoXy Lady') and of course the recent models of the XP series (XP 38 'Xpresso' and 'Veolia').

X-Yachts was founded in 1979 in Denmark and is one of the most successful and quality-oriented shipyards. Besides wins at the Admiral’s Cup and Commodore’s Cup nine ORC World Champion titles show the extraordinary quality of X-Yachts. The outstanding success in the realm of international regattas soon attracted the attention of the cruising market, who demanding for fast and sportive high quality yachts. This led to a new model alongside the regatta yachts. The Performace Cruiser was born, a combination of regatta oriented racers and comfortable family friendly yachts. The success and versatility of X-Yachts can be seen in expansion of the company: Today X-Yachts is represented in 35 countries, among them in Flensburg/Sonwik, Germany. There X-Yachts Germany provides various services and guidance for vendees of brand new as well as pre-owned yachts.

'We are proud that so many X-Yachts have already registered for the Worlds in Kiel and we are looking forward to support the ORC World Championships that will take place close to our headquarters', says Christoph Barth, General Manager of X-Yachts Germany.
