ORC Worlds announce new event sponsor

by Martje Uecker on 18 Feb 2014
. .
The ORC Worlds 2014, to be hosted by Kieler Yacht Club, are being held from August 2nd until August 9th. Crashes are regatta incidents that simply happen. The best material for repair of the resulting damage may now be provided by the ORC Worlds’ new event sponsor, Awlgrip. For more than 40 years, Awlgrip has been one of the leading manufacturers of professional yacht coating systems for the upperworks. Awlgrip products are long-lasting, reliable and innovative.

The professional Awlgrip yacht coating systems have set standards and are established worldwide – from smaller yacht to mega-yacht. Awlgrip enjoys universal trust and respect in the yachting industry. Based on on-going technical innovation, stringent quality control and the superb quality of finishes, Awlgrip products serve as benchmarks. The Awlgrip system allows more or less each colour shades, including metallic ones.

„We’re happy to support the Worlds as event sponsor, and off course we hope that there will be exciting races without any damage. But in case things do get too tight after all, the sailors will be able to use Awlgrip products to get their boats back on the race course as soon as possible,' says Thomas Zeller, Retail Sales Manager at AkzoNobel, who crosses his fingers for collision-free World Championships in August. AkzoNobel is a worldwide leading manufacturer of paints and coatings. The conglomerate is passionate about developing sustainable solutions for the needs of their customers.

Awlgrip is one of nine sponsores and media partners who support the ORC Worlds in August. It is only with the help of our sponsors that we can hold the high standard of racing events which the Kieler Yacht-Club is known for. During the ORC Worlds, we will have a big marquee and outside area in the northern part of the Olympic Marina – with the boats in sight,' says Thore Hansen, general manager of the Kieler Yacht-Club marketing agency Point of Sailing. He is very content with the progress of preparing for the World Championships. „We still have two sponsoring slots available, but I’m sure that we will be able to market them successfully within the next couple of weeks.'

Currently, the list of event partners and sponsors features well known names/ brands like premium partner Tutima and event sponsors Awlgrip, Liros, X-Yachts and North Sails as well as media partners Segler-Zeitung and Kieler Nachrichten .
