Will has been having sailing lessons at Soldiers Point Sailing School located at Soldiers Point Marina, under the guidance of Chief Sailing Instructor Graham Oborn for over 12 months now. He has achieved the Basic Skills 1 & 2 courses and is now working towards completing his Better Sailing Course.
Soldiers Point Marina established Soldiers Point Sailing School for the purpose of giving our local youth the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful waterways by learning to sail. Local students from Tomaree High School and St Philips Christian College are given weekly sailing lessons during their sports periods at no cost to them or their school and can attain their Basic Skills 1 Certificate. Private sailing lessons are also available from our qualified instructors during school holidays and at weekends.
Accompanied by his parents Greg and Lynne and sister Ruby, Will sailed for two hours with the crew and got to helm the magnificent boat reaching a top speed of 17.4 knots.
Following the sail Will and his family joined the crew for lunch at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.
Will loved his prize commenting 'it was pretty awesome and I want to continue do this in the future'.
'We had a great time, the crew were so friendly and welcoming' said Lynne.
