The European Performance Cruiser of the Year in 2016, the Solaris 50 was described by judges as, “, elegant, sophisticated and a positive delight to sail.” Fast forward to 2017 and was the International Best Boat judges turn to give the Solaris the top award.

Anthony Bishop, new owner of Team Windcraft, is naturally delighted by the award.

According to Bishop

“The Solaris 50 is a beautiful boat. As I witnessed first hand at the Solaris factory, every boat is constructed with the utmost attention to detail and is a true masterpiece of Italian design. The Solaris 50 deserves the recognition of the boating industry and every longing glance she inspires.”

Comments from the Best Boat 2017 judges indicate that being both a performance boat and having the features of a luxury cruiser put the Solaris ahead of other yachts in the Large Monohull Category. Achieving the perfect balance of style and performance is not easily done. The judges felt that the Solaris 50 has the two major things buyers in this category are looking for - innovative design and build for optimal performance, and inspired style considerations for a luxurious onboard experience.

Distinguished by a low profile teak deck, the Solaris 50 provides a view from the helm that is uncluttered. The skipper can feel the glide and pull of each nuance the yacht makes through the water. Argentinian designer Javier Soto Acebal is well practised in creating long minimalist lines, working for several years on the Solaris fleet and now delivering perfection.

So much more than a great performance yacht, the Italian styling of the interiors surprised the judges. Luxury features are added unobtrusively - there is a hidden liferaft locker, a bimini frame that can support a fully enclosed deck shelter when deployed and a very usable dinghy garage hidden behind a fold-down transom. The function of the yacht marries wordlessly with beautiful appointments throughout.

Space allocation is key on any boat and the Solaris 50 does not disappoint. Even with sailing essentials taken care of, the accommodation is notably generous. The owner’s stateroom forward is capacious and the grand scale of the saloon allows for every comfort. There are a pair of generous aft cabins, easily adapted for fit-out as full size double or split single berths, as necessary.

The Solaris range is the absolute opposite of ordinary. The boats inspire and exhilarate with clean lines that captivate the imagination. A sailors yacht which envelops everyone onboard in pure, unashamed luxury.
