Solo Thames Valley Series at Kingsmead Sailing Club

by Martyn Hawkins 19 Apr 2013 00:18 PDT 13 April 2013

Kingsmead SC hosted a very successful Solo Open, a round of the Thames Valley Series, on Saturday 13th April 2013.

Eighteen boats from 8 clubs, including 5 from Kingsmead, turned up and raced on a windy day with strong gusts to ensure great competition and to keep the safety team on their toes.

Although the rain increased throughout the day it did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors, most of whom returned to the fray for the third race after the excellent lunch provided by Kingsmead's galley.

Very well done to all who took part, the officers who ran a great day's sailing and to the galley for refreshing the participants.

Kingsmean's top finisher was Sue Taylor who took 8th place and might have finished higher had she not loyally swelled the club's burgee sales by inverting in race 2.
