With boat shows happening in three states over the next four months it is not surprising that the industry is focused on organizing their exhibits currently.
As the largest boating exhibition in the southern hemisphere, the Sydney International Boat Show, running from the 1st until the 5th of August at the International Convention Centre Sydney and Cockle Bay Darling Harbour, attracts boat builders and manufacturers from around the world. From the USA, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) will present a number of their members at a special USA Pavilion. The NMMA is the leading trade association in the US representing boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers. From Central Europe, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency will promote the Polish yacht and boat sector among Australians at the show. Visitors to the show can learn more about the Polish yachting industry and obtain information about Polish manufacturers, parts, equipment and related services.
The Brisbane Boat Show happens just three weeks later and tickets are now on sale. The Brisbane Boat Show runs from the 23rd until the 25th of August at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank. To purchase tickets, visit www.brisbaneboatshow.com.au and click on the blue 'Buy Tickets' button.
We have always commented on the evolvement of alternate power systems being developed and Garmin have now joined Navico for a share in the fishing boat market that demands a silent approach. Garmin have announced its new Force™ trolling motor, bringing superior power and efficiency to the freshwater trolling motor market.
Sailing news this week includes German builder Bavaria, imported into Australia by the Ensign Group. The Bavaria Flagship C57s present a new dimension of sailing. Three of these Flagship C57's have already splashed the Australian waters in just a few months. Joint MD Andy Howden says "The C57's success shows an ever-increasing demand in large volume luxury shorthanded sailing. The new models are vastly different from what Bavaria has ever produced in the past. You almost have to forget what you think Bavaria is and have a look at these new offerings by Italian designer Cosette with fresh eyes."
Staying with Europe, our resident Sail-World Australia editor, John Curnow, reports on a combination of French and German ingenuity. France's inboard powerplant and generator specialist, Nanni, has recently collaborated with Germany's Hanse Yachts on their latest Dehler 29 Cruiser/Racer, and also Dehler 30 One Design. The Nanni N3.21 engine with an SP60 Sail Drive will be the only engine to power Hanse's 8.75m Dehler 29. This engine underwent a redesign to optimise it for limited available space. Dehler's new 30 One Design, their latest all-out racer is to be powered by a Nanni N2.10 engine. The interesting element here is that the 10.3m vessel deploys a retractable prop shaft, which is a first for both Dehler and Nanni, and not seen that often this side of a mini-maxi or supermaxi.
If anyone is looking for a way to get into the marine industry or an existing company is looking to expand, Marine Innovations are looking for a new exclusive agent for Mantus Marine US. Marine Innovations have been exclusive agents for Mantus Marine in Australia since 2014 and have established the brand as a known and innovative company with industry leading quality products. The Marine Innovations owner is now on the wrong side of 65 and wishes to be able to walk out the door, travel and have no business responsibility. We have been asked by Mantus Marine in the US to find an organisation prepared to take Mantus Marine Products to the next level in Australia.
And while we are talking expansion our PowerBoat-World site is rapidly increasing in popularity. A digital news site dedicated to recording the incredible amount of news emanating from the 30+ power boat market is building a dedicated following from industry members wanting to keep up with latest developments and power boat buyers and owners wanting to ensure they are aware of all the new boats and products available to them.
