Alarming statistics have highlighted just how real the need is to address crew mental health. A survey conducted by Nautilus International revealed that 82% of superyacht crew experienced some form of stress or mental health issue during their employment. Equally, a study published in the Journal of Maritime Research, based on interviews with 274 superyacht crew members, found that 55% reported symptoms of depression and 45% experienced symptoms of anxiety.

Additional results from research conducted by Maritime UK, and published in the Occupational Medicine Journal, further demonstrated how crew mental health has become a significant concern. From a survey of 426 superyacht crew members, a worrying 56% reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Notably to reinforce findings, 40% of the participants reported feeling socially isolated and disconnected from their families and friends, which can exacerbate mental health issues.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and positive state of mind can be difficult for crew members working long hours in confined spaces. Mental health challenges are on the rise, leading to fatigue, stress, and a lack of motivation. However, Superyacht Fitness, in a unique collaboration with Myzone, now provides accessible solutions to help crew members and guests stay focused on their overall wellbeing while onboard. It's a partnership dedicated to improving the physical and mental health of crew members.

Recognising the unique challenges that crew face, Superyacht Fitness also offers a comprehensive range of tailored solutions to enhance the onboard wellness experience. With a commitment to health, extending far beyond their installation of state-of-the-art fitness equipment, they take pride in a holistic approach centred around fitness programs, cabin exercises, plus guidance and wellness services that promote long-term wellbeing and personal success. Now Myzone brings heart rate training to the table, complementing every aspect of wellness.

"Myzone believes that mental wellbeing is the foundation for a healthy and balanced life. It's not just about exercising the body, but also nurturing the mind, fostering resilience, and cultivating a positive outlook on life." - Myzone

Physical health is clearly important to ensure any crew performs at their best; however, there are also significant mental health benefits which are equally vital, given that members must remain focused and resilient in high-pressure situations. Prolonged periods away from friends and family, combined with the demands of the job, can lead to stress, anxiety, and even burnout. That's where Superyacht Fitness and Myzone step in, taking activity to a whole new level whilst creating a community of like-minded individuals who motivate and support each other in achieving their goals.

Myzone is the leading provider of wearable technology and online support in the fitness industry. Established in 2011, they have become synonymous with innovative tracking and performance monitoring. Superyacht Fitness is proud to have an exclusive partnership with Myzone, bringing their cutting-edge technology and unrivalled expertise to the superyacht world. With this advanced equipment and user-friendly online platform, clients can accurately track their workouts, monitor their progress, and receive personalised feedback and support.

These research figures further emphasise the need for investigation and implementation of comprehensive support mechanisms to effectively tackle mental health concerns faced by superyacht crew members - which is exactly the focus of Superyacht Fitness.

One of the benefits that Superyacht Fitness with Myzone provides is the sense of camaraderie from working together towards common fitness goals. A collaborative atmosphere fosters a sense of belonging, boosts morale, and creates a united environment on board. Crew members, regardless of their level of activity or fitness, can support each other in achieving healthier lifestyles. This is a community-driven experience that celebrates success stories, promotes fitness and connects users on their journey to optimum health.

It is also fair to say that a positive work environment is created when crew members feel valued, physically fit, and mentally balanced. This leads to an efficient and dedicated team, resulting in enhanced guest satisfaction and a smoother, more personalised experience. Prioritising the health of crew members also increases staff retention rates and ensures sustained operational efficiency for superyacht owners.

The evolution of crew wellbeing is growing and Superyacht Fitness in partnership with Myzone are leading the charge to deliver the latest technology and access to onboard wellness. This innovative approach takes superyacht welfare to the next level by providing personalised metrics, a sense of community, and overall wellbeing for users. By investing, superyacht owners are prioritising the health of those working onboard, and creating an unparalleled experience that goes beyond the usual on board facilities.
