UK-based Anchoright is launching its new Stud-Link Chain Marker designed for superyachts on Stand 03.301 at Metstrade.

This product has been designed as a direct result of demand from the superyacht industry, following the success of the company's Anchoright chain marking system used on smaller size anchor chains. The superyacht sector wanted a simple, ecologically-friendly and long-lasting chain marker system that could be quickly and easily applied to the stud links used on superyacht anchor chains. After around two years carrying out product testing and analysing feedback from superyacht users, Anchoright is now launching the Stud-Link Chain Marker at Metstrade 2025.

The Anchoright Stud Link Chain Marker system comprises vibrant multi-coloured flexible and durable collars that attach directly to the stud links of superyacht anchor chains. By partnering with development teams at 3M, Anchoright incorporated a specialised 3M primer and seawater-resistant double-sided tape, similar to that used in the oil industry. Application is straightforward: users simply remove the tape's backing strip and hold the collar in place for 30 seconds for a secure fit.

In addition, Anchoright incorporated a SOLAS standard reflective tape band onto the collars, to enable easy visibility at night and in low light conditions. To ensure the SOLAS tape is not degraded through scuffing or is torn from the anchor chain during use, it is bonded to an outer layer of 3M Helitape. This high-quality tape is typically used in aeronautical, military and windfarm applications to protect the leading edge of helicopter and rota blades from abrasion from dust and grit.

Until now, superyachts have typically used paint to mark anchor chains, a costly, time-consuming and laborious process that requires renewal every 4-6 months. Paint particles have been identified as a significant source of microplastic pollution in oceans and waterways, contributing to environmental pollution.* Now, using Anchoright, time to mark anchor chain has reduced by 90%, demonstrating a real saving in time and costs.

Quinton Watts, Managing Director of Anchoright says, "Having observed the effectiveness of our system on standard-sized anchor chains, we recognised a market need for a similar ecological and cost-effective solution tailored for superyacht chains. Our innovative 3D printed collars not only minimise waste through mass customisation but also significantly reduce application time and costs for crew members. Anchoright markers are long-lasting and do not adversely affect the marine environment."
