The 22nd edition of Sandberg PalmaVela continues to set the pace in international sailing, reaching 130 registered teams with one month still to go before the start of the regatta.

Organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP), the event will take place from April 23 to May 3 and will bring together more than 1,300 sailors in the Bay of Palma.

These figures reinforce Sandberg PalmaVela's position as the first major regatta of the Mediterranean season, a key meeting point for international owners and crews at the start of the racing calendar.

"The expectation of welcoming more than 1,300 sailors and 130 teams in this edition reflects the confidence that the international fleet places in Sandberg PalmaVela. For us, it is especially important to continue delivering a regatta with its own identity, offering space for a wide range of classes and a sporting and organisational format that makes this event a top-level reference," said Manu Fraga, Director of the RCNP.

"La Larga", a diverse and spectacular fleet

The first act of the competition will be the offshore race "La Larga", one of the great spring classics. The race will feature a particularly diverse fleet, both in terms of boat size and racing formats.

ORC boats will compete both in A2 (double-handed) format and with full crews, alongside the demanding Mini 6.50 sailing solo and the spectacular Maxis, which will be able to race under both IRC and ORC rules with large crews of up to 25 sailors.

The warning signal for the offshore race of Sandberg PalmaVela is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 12:00 in the Bay of Palma.

Courses adapted to weather conditions

The race committee will define the course between 48 and 24 hours before the start, depending on the forecast weather conditions.

Two different routes across the Balearic archipelago are planned: one designed for faster boats and another for slower ones, with the aim of achieving as close a finish as possible between both fleets in the Bay of Palma.
