AkzoNobel and Hinckley have marked half a century of collaboration in which Awlgrip® maintains its position as the preferred premium topcoat for its service yards.

With Hinckley itself fast approaching its 100th anniversary, this milestone is a testament to the enduring partnership of two brands united by a commitment to raising industry standards in high-quality, consistent topcoat finishes.

Founded in Maine in 1928, Hinckley has long been synonymous with timeless design, extraordinary craftsmanship, and an ownership experience that sets the benchmark for luxury boating in the United States. For 50 of those years, Awlgrip products have been employed within both new boat construction and service yards to ensure the premium standard of quality is maintained across locations and applicators.

The proof of the partnership is visible in every boat that leaves a Hinckley service yard, regardless of the make or model. Whether it is a new motor boat that is being launched for the first time or a cherished sport yacht returning for its annual service, the best-in-class finish delivered by Hinckley's skilled applicators using Awlgrip products, such as Awlgrip HDT (High-Definition Technology), reflects the renowned standards of both brands.

As a further example of the joint commitment to excellence, AkzoNobel and Hinckley have developed a standardized paint program which is designed to align processes, enhance applicator capability, and ensure that a Hinckley finish looks and performs to the highest standards, wherever in the world the work is being carried out. Initially launched across Hinckley's network of service yards, caring for all yacht makes and models along the US eastern seaboard, the program has since expanded into new construction.

This unique partnership is now being showcased in Hinckley's new behind-the-scenes video series, which invites viewers into the yards to witness the skill, passion and artistry that goes into every project. Episode 2: 'Chasing the Spray' takes viewers inside the yards to witness the expertise and dedication that goes into every project and explores why Awlgrip is the only solution the Hinckley team trusts to deliver the finish their customers expect.

This standard is now being delivered consistently across Hinckley's growing service yard network, giving returning Hinckley and other premium yacht owners, whether based on the US East Coast or sailing the Mediterranean, the confidence that every Hinckley finish will reflect the same quality, year after year.

Scott Bryant, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at The Hinckley Company, said: "They [Awlgrip] are not just a supplier to us; they're a partner who understands our standards and helps us meet them, every single time. From the technical expertise they bring to our yards to the innovation they've delivered through products like HDT, Awlgrip gives our applicators the very best tools to do what they do. Their commitment to delivering consistently high standards matters enormously to us, and to our customers."

Ned Jones, Awlgrip Sales Representative at AkzoNobel, commented: "When you see a Hinckley on the water with an Awlgrip finish, you can see and feel the difference. It's been a privilege to work alongside their teams for so many years, and to play a role in building a paint program that's genuinely raised the standard across their business."
