The Australia Tahiti Rendezvous, one of the superyacht industry's most enduring Pacific traditions, has delivered its most successful edition to date.
Held from 25 to 26 June at Marina Taina, Papeete, Tahiti, this year's event welcomed more than 150 visiting crew members, a record attendance reflecting the remarkable concentration of very large vessels currently berthed in French Polynesian waters.
Founded almost 20 years ago, the Rendezvous continues to evolve as both a valuable networking platform and a celebration of the ties between Australia and Tahiti. The 2026 programme spanned informal business engagement, including the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard's VIP Captains' Lunch through to the most highly attended dockside celebration to date, showcasing a blend of Australian and Polynesian culture.
The 2026 Rendezvous brought together a strong delegation of Australian marine industry businesses, demonstrating the breadth and capability of the Australian marine sector, including Australian Superyachts, Carter Marine Agencies, CHAPMAN, d'Albora, Integ Marine Group, Main Beach Superyacht Marina, Melanesian Yachts, Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef, The Yard Brisbane and Yachtsmiths.

The centrepiece business event of the Rendezvous was the VIP Captains' Lunch, sponsored by Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, a founding partner of the Tahiti Australia Rendezvous since the mid-2000s. The lunch brought together superyacht captains, the Australian Deputy Consul General for French Polynesia and local Tahiti industry representatives.
The presence of Australia's Deputy Consul General affirms the government's recognition of the superyacht sector as a meaningful driver of bilateral trade and tourism in the Pacific. Discussions ranged from port logistics and provisioning to broader regional opportunities presented by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic marine program, highlighting the sector's increasing role in supporting trade and tourism across the Pacific.
The crew highlight of the Rendezvous program was the Pacific Provisions Cooking Competition, an intensely contested culinary battle between yacht crews, each tasked with creating dishes that showcased a fusion of Australian and local French Polynesian ingredients. The competition has become a much-anticipated element of the Rendezvous, celebrating the creativity and professionalism that define today's superyacht crews.
The standard of entries was exceptional, with the crew of the 100-metre M/Y Pi taking top honours for their inventive approach earning a well-deserved victory in what was by all accounts the most competitive edition of the competition to date.
The event flowed into the much-anticipated dockside BBQ and party, where more than 150 crew gathered for an evening celebration featuring traditional Polynesian dancers and a live DJ. The festivities continued well into the night for an evening that combined Australian-style hospitality with the soul of French Polynesia, creating an atmosphere many described as a highlight of their time in the Pacific.

The record attendance is not only a milestone for the Australia Tahiti Rendezvous but also a clear indicator of broader industry momentum that Superyacht Australia has been working hard to create. The strong presence of large vessels in Tahiti reflects the success of sustained international promotion of the South Pacific, with growing numbers of yachts choosing to cruise the region. This year's turnout demonstrates that long-term investment in awareness and engagement is delivering tangible results.
