Lots of news happening in the marine industry and we start with an update from the organisers of the Gold Coast International Boat Show & Marine Expo. More marina space and even more additions to an already impressive Fleet of Firsts have set the scene for a colossal marine showcase both on water and on land on Queensland's Gold Coast from 17-19 March.
With just four weeks until the Gold Coast International Boat Show & Marine Expo at Coomera, organisers have announced the creation of additional marina space to accommodate the quickly growing on-water line-up of luxury yachts and boats.

A new software update was announced for Simrad® NSS evo2, NSO evo2, GO5 XSE and GO7 XSE displays, providing major sonar enhancements, new Navionics® functionality and general software improvements. The update includes significant improvements to TVG (Time Variable Gain) and Auto Gain, Navionics® SonarChart™ Live, Navionics Dock-to-Dock Autorouting and Navionics Plotter Sync, in addition to NMEA 2000® entertainment enhancements.

The Miami Boat Show always has some interesting exhibitors and this year is no different. McConaghy will be exhibiting at the show, including details on their luxury performance cruising multihulls. In addition to the multihulls they have new builds available across the range, from the latest in Grand Prix, to Classics built from the latest materials, to superyacht projects, and more.

Also at the Miami show, Volvo Penta are introducing the most powerful of its next-generation marine petrol engines. Offered in 380 and 430 hp models, the new aluminum V8s are based on the highly successful General Motors' Gen-V block and incorporate a combination of technical features.

Away from Miami, Bavaria Yachts presents new details for the Bavaria 55, which is the largest motor yacht ever built by Bavaria. Even though Bavaria Yachts has only published a few pictures and a video of the new Bavaria R55 so far, the elegance, dynamic, agility and the powerful design language of the new flagship by Bavaria Yachts are very obvious.

And a warning to all sailors. Australian Sailing and Melonoma Patients Australia have joined forces again in 2017 to encourage the sailing community to be sun smart and check your skin.

Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) is a non-profit organisation which offers a national network of support and information to melanoma patients, their families, carers and friends. Established in 2006, MPA is a community resource that shares knowledge about melanoma prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment.
