Electric motors are not new but Torqueedo takes the marine application to a new level.

Now the company has made state-of-the-art automotive battery technology available for boats by offering BMW i high-capacity batteries via a recently signed supplier agreement. The first boats equipped with BMW i batteries are already in operation or are close to completion, including motor boats, sailing yachts and commercial marine applications, such as water taxis.

At the other end of the power spectrum Fjord, an established luxury powerboat brand with a unique design and powerful Volvo Penta engines has expanded its segment and catapults the new Fjord 36 xpress with two 350 hp outboard engines on the water. The engines are perfect for shallow water and the Fjord xpress reaches new top speed of stunning 45 knots.

On the sailing scene Brendan Hunt is visiting boats in Spain, France and Poland. His trip overseas involves meeting with other dealers, brokers and boat owners to insure that Vicsail stays at the forefront of the boating scene in Australia and overseas. Hunt attended the 30th year celebration for CNB Yachts in Bordeaux. After rewarding 25 years of involvement with the Beneteau Group and with CNB in Bordeaux, a chance to catch up with many worldwide friends.

Another sailing stalwart David Bradburn, who I have known for many years, is one of the last Australian yacht builders left in the country.
