Our industry is massively diverse covering all sizes of power and sail boat options. The top end of the powerboat section is enjoying significant marketing penetration and in this week's newsletter we report on UK builder Princess Yachts recent financial achievements. Two other major powerboat builders Riviera and Maritimo, both based in Queensland, Australia, advise their separate marketing successes.
Riviera, will premiere the sophisticated 4800 Sport Yacht in conjunction with dedicated Riviera and Belize representative Emerald Pacific Yachts at the Newport Boat Show in Newport Beach, California, over four days beginning on April 19.
Neighbours Maritimo, the Gold Coast based luxury cruiser manufacturer, has commenced operations in the adjoining commercial property it purchased at the Coomera Marine precinct last year and is on track to increase its workforce and production as the global leisure cruiser market rebounds. Maritimo purchased the commercial property adjoining its current headquarters on the Gold Coast to enable future expansion and after undertaking works within the new building it moved part of its manufacturing process in at the start of February.
With the future of sailing participation in mind, which will affect all marine businesses associated with sailing, the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, in Sydney, continues to provide the future sailing champions. The club's world renowned Youth Development (YD) programme has been producing world class athletes for over 20 years! The RPAYC is holding an information session for any interested youth wanting to know more about the YD program, the Advanced Fleet Racing program, and the Advanced Match Racing Program. There will be a short seminar followed by a Q&A session and a trial sail on the club's fleet of Elliott 7s, the training boats used for all YD programs. It will be held on May 12, 2018 from 1000hrs to 1230hrs.
On the education front Navico recently revealed its plans for high-end electronics brands Lowrance, Simrad and B&G at its annual Australia & New Zealand Dealer Conference held in the Gold Coast, QLD Australia. The yearly conference brings Navico product managers, technical experts, marketing and sales executives from all over the world for three days of on-water trials, presentations and training for the dealer channel.
Finally and for all those marine industry companies who employ more than 20 people, the ATO's new payroll reporting system comes into effect from 1 July for many businesses.
This requires employers to report information such as salary and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation to the Australian Taxation Office via a Single Touch Payroll-enabled system at the same time as they pay employees. Businesses can also ask a third party, such as a payroll service provider or tax accountant, to report on their behalf through an enabled service.
