News from METSTRADE in Europe and Navico announces new products | Zhik's design & management team with METS award for Isotak X Zhik | It is always good to hear about the new product releases from METSTRADE, the world's largest marine trade show, held in Amsterdam from Nov 14th -16th this year.

ACR Electronics has announced the release of two new all-in-one boating Survival Kits. Designed to make life easier and safer for boat owners, the conveniently prepacked premium kits include the essential products needed to quickly abandon ship and alert the rescue authorities of an emergency. Boaters carrying one of the bags on-board will be equipped with an ACR Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) or Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) operating on the 406 MHz frequency.

With a year of commercial and sports success, PROtect tapes introduces its 2018 news at the trade show. For PROtect tapes, 2017 was once again a double digit growth in terms of revenue and EBITDA. From a sports point of view, mention is made of the special Wingsail film for all the 35th America's Cup teams. At present, the entire fleet involved in the Volvo Ocean Race is also using a broad range of materials, in particular Dongfeng Team which PROtect tapes is a Technical Supplier.

Electric mobility solutions are gaining widespread acceptance in the automotive markets and in all other transportation sectors, including the marine market. “Offering sustainable products that deliver a superior value over conventional combustion engines has always been Torqeedo's core. We continue this tradition in 2018,” said Torqeedo CEO Christoph Ballin on the occasion of the first presentation of the product innovations at METS.

New products gain awards at the show and that was the case for Zhik, the innovative Australian marine clothing company. Mark Jardine, Sail-World's Managing Editor caught up with Drue Kerr, Senior Designer at Zhik, who have just won the DAME Award in the clothing category for their Isotak X Ocean range. Mark asked Drew how important was it to have their products recognised by the award.

Other new product launches this week included the new HOOK2 series of fishfinders/chartplotters, from Lowrance, delivering a new standard for ease of use and affordability. At the heart of the world's easiest-to-use HOOK2 fishfinder/chartplotter series is Lowrance Autotuning sonar – a new, game-changing solution that actively corrects sonar settings for the clearest underwater view. Now, anglers can spend more time fishing and less time making manual adjustments to their sonar settings. Most models will also feature full navigational capability and pre-loaded, high-detail mapping.

Navico the parent company of Lowrance, Simrad and B&G, has expanded the range of reporting and connectivity options offered by its Track telemetry system, with the all-new Track HD. Historically Track has provided instant access to vessel location and status via a mobile app and online dashboard. Now with Track HD users can take remote control of lights, pumps, HVAC, or other systems. Track HD also enables cloud storage for key vessel documents, and TripReplay to capture and share details of previous trips. With multiple connectivity options including WiFi and cellular, with satellite coming soon, consumers can choose the option that best meets their needs.
