Another new innovative app has just been unveiled that promises to improve the efficiency of boaters at sea. Nebo has been designed to automate the tedious and time-consuming task of logging sea voyages while also creating a connected and dynamic global boating community.

Using advanced geofencing technology, Nebo creates and records detailed electronic voyage logs as the vessel enters or passes through maritime locations. As well as storing logs within the app, Nebo emails daily PDF reports to the skipper, including photos and automated weather observations. The daily logs are great for record keeping and sharing with friends and family.

The breakthrough Isotak®X design developments include the new Hydrovision™ hood with a completely clear ‘see through' visor to protect the face and give great all round vision. An ‘Adaptive™' hood and collar on the IsotakX Ocean Smock and Drysuit, enables the modular hood-collar unit to be inter-changed with different balaclavas for different weather conditions. And a newly enhanced Reziseal™ system for the neck and cuffs - soft, stretchy, durable and comfortable and fantastic at keeping water out.

A new ‘maxi tri' built in France also used a large amount of technical developments in its design and construction. After over 135,000 man-hours, numerous meetings between Team Banque Populaire, the designers (naval architects VPLP), the number crunchers (HDS/Gsea Design), and the design office and teams from CDK and Keroman Technologies, the Maxi Banque Populaire IX was launched on 30 October in front of the Keroman Technologies yard in Lorient.

Engine development involves a lot to technical advancements. Volvo Penta released its new 1,000hp diesel engine and its companion IPS1350 at the Cannes Boat Show recently and will exhibited them in the USA for the first time at the Fort Lauderdale Show.

The new 1,000hp D13 is the result of a major redesign by Volvo Penta engineers, including new pistons, more efficient injectors and improved cooling systems, combining to produce 11 percent more power than previous engines. The optimized power-to-weight ratio and excellent low-end torque provide incredible power on demand.
