This year the boating industry made an appearance at the famous Flemington Race meeting. Rekindling may have taken the 2017 Melbourne Cup but there's no doubt that all the talk has been about the sleek, Maritimo S59 cruising motor yacht which held pride of place at the Maison Mumm Champagne marquee. Literally thousands of selfies and countless professional photographs were taken beside or on the yacht and its presence at the Melbourne Cup has been noted worldwide.

Danish boat builder X-Yachts has taken its world renowned Xcruising line into the Next Generation over the past two years. After one million cruising miles, and feedback from numerous owners, they went back to the design board to modify some of the features to bring even more comfort and light into cruising. These included larger bathing platforms and hull port lights.

On a lighter note anyone who has dreamt of cruising the world will relate to the story about a couple of Aussies who lived the dream courtesy of their Outremer 45. The young Aussie couple, who go by the name Sailing La Vagabond, received a little help from Outremer to upgrade their yacht to a 45. Riley and Elayna from La Vagabond have been exploring the islands of the Med showing a fantastic insight into what it is like to cruise on this vibrant, culturally rich, spectacularly beautiful and incredibly popular cruising destination.
