Preparation and planning for delivery of the new-format Sydney Festival of Boating and the Brisbane Boat Show is full steam ahead. These BIA events are scheduled for Sydney (Thursday 29 July to Sunday 1 August) and Brisbane (Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August).
The BIA events team is getting ready to launch the Invitation to Exhibit (ITE) on 16 March for the Sydney Festival of Boating; the Brisbane event ITE will follow in due course. Here is a taste of what to expect from the Sydney Festival of Boating:
- A new look 'Covid-Safe' four-day show which supports industry and celebrates the boating lifestyle
- The venue is the ICC Sydney, Cockle Bay Marina, Darling Harbour
- Days and hours will be Thursday to Saturday (10am - 8pm), Sunday (10am - 5pm)
- Exhibition footprint inside ICC Sydney is to be restricted to Upper-Level only, includes Exhibitor marquees on the Event Deck
- Custom built marina within Cockle Bay to cater for on-water demand
- A Festival of Boating boulevard to connect the ICC Sydney exhibits with marina displays. Paddle, Power and Sail exhibits scattered along the boulevard showcasing the boating lifestyle to passing public
- A targeted media campaign will take place to ensure we connect with a qualified and willing audience.

In Victoria the Boating Industry Association is making advanced plans for next year's Melbourne Boat Show 2022. Early planning and the ordering of stock will be essential. Business and boat show certainty depends on your early booking. The initial response to the 2022 Melbourne Boat Show announcement has been very strong. "The rate at which exhibitors have been rolling their 2021 instalments into 2022 deposits has been outstanding," said BIAV CEO Steve Walker. "As well as that, every single respondent so far, to the request to make a minimum $5,000 deposit for 2022, has agreed to do so. It is really gaining momentum," Walker said, adding, "This is a great sign for the event, and most importantly for planning. Not only for exhibitors themselves, however also for their suppliers, and for the BIAV as organiser."

People recruitments this week include Brady Lowe at Australian Sailing. As part of the burgeoning growth of the Performance Pathway, Australian Sailing have announced the recruitment of Brady Lowe into the TAS/SA pathways advisor position. This role will be focused on creating sustainable pathways structure and coaching within the states of South Australia and Tasmania. As a hybrid role, his remit is to technically coach existing scholarship or high potential athletes within the states and following that, to identify sailors, clubs and associations who can contribute and want to be partners on the Olympic journey. Brady will be working closely with Australian Sailing's regional offices and his background is across both the club and performance space. In Tasmania, he will continue to build our ongoing relationship with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport.

Another appointment involves ZF Services Australia who have announced the expansion of its Oceania Leadership team, with the promotion of HR Business Partner Alana Wilson. Since commencing with ZF Services Oceania in November 2018, Ms Wilson has led the HR department by instigating a Diversity Policy and a more modern Flexible Working Policy, which contributed to the business adapting exceptionally well during the challenges of 2020. Ms Wilson joins Managing Director Mark Lowe, Chief Financial Officer Martin McKinley, Head of IAM Oceania Darren Leyshon, Head of OES Oceania Gary Bain, Technical Services Manager Shane Trenbath and Head of Marketing, Communications & Strategy Oceania Stefanie Fischer on the ZF Services Leadership Team in Oceania.
