Behind every great sailing team in major offshore races is a shore team of equal calibre. For the Black Jack team, which sailed Peter Harburg’s 100 footer to a Line Honours in the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, this shore included such luminaries as renowned navigator, Juan Vila and weather gurus Roger ‘Clouds’ Badham and Bruce Buckley.

Here, skipper Mark Bradford describes some of the key decisions that they had helped plan in the days before the race, that were pivotal to Black Jack’s winning moves.
