Musto Lark National Championship at Brixham Yacht Club - Overall

by Stuart Hydon 1 Jun 2023 06:56 AEST 28-31 May 2023

Boom... F4-5 wind strength and big rolling easterly waves epic conditions for the final two races and decider for the 2023 Musto Lark National Championship.

Race 1 saw John Brickwood & Andy Hicks hit left and take the lead which they would hold on to. Tim Fells & Fran Gifford wiggled their way into second and likewise Stuart & Nick Hydon popped into third complimenting the top three old boy helm Lark Sailors.

In the final race Steve Chatten & Kirsty Phipps were the gate boat. Will Pank & Hannah Morris left the gate first, tacked half a minute later and crossed the fleet. They established a good lead with Chris White & Sam Bailey hunting them down until their rudder fell off the pintles.

This enabled Stuart & Nick to pull into second with Tim & Fran third. On the final reach to the finish Stuart & Nick were unable to overhaul Will & Hannah which led to a close finish.

After racing today Ed Bradburn & Holly Evans had done enough to take the title "Musto Lark National Champions 2023".

Thanks go to the wonderful hospitality of Brixham Yacht Club and all the volunteers that helped to make it a great event.
