The Multihull Cup is making final preparations to welcome a trio of first timers to the Mallorcan celebration of multihull sailing at the end of the month.
Now marking its seventh edition, the pioneering regatta dedicated to performance cruising multihulls will once again return to its long-standing home in the exclusive Port Adriano venue from 26th-28th September.
The largest of the three debutantes is the Gunboat 72 Layla, with the striking blue cruising-optimised catamaran featuring a flybridge alongside a high-performance rig plan with a carbon wing mast.
Also looking to be in the racing mix is Gaea, with the semi-custom Morrelli & Melvin 65 having received a major refit last year. Her new Canadian owner Zach Plavsic is a double Olympic windsurfer, so will no doubt bring an element of competitive focus to the Cup. It is also possible he might bring one or two Olympic mates to join the party.
The last, but by no means least, of the first-time contenders is Falcon, the unique F4 foiling catamaran which emerged from Holland Composites following a collaborative design project involving DNA Performance and the America's Cup winning sailor Shannon Falcone. Another yacht likely to make its presence felt.
All three of the new arrivals will face determined though friendly competition from Allegra, the Nigel Irens designed 84-footer a regular attendee at Multihull Cup. A winner in 2021 she was runner-up last year by the closest of margins, so is sure to be aiming to go one better this time around.
"At every Multihull Cup event it is always a real pleasure to welcome old friends back, and have the opportunity to make new ones," said Event Manager Marianne Maatjes.
"While the entry list in 2025 is not the largest we have had, it certainly represents a true cross-section of the multihull world, and we celebrate that."
"We are looking forward to again welcoming the owners, crews and friends of the Multihull Cup, it is always a great pleasure," said Nani Mas of the exclusive Philippe Starck designed marina.
Multihull Cup organisers also highlighted the support of event partners including Gunboat, GT Rigging and BM Composites, each of whom is sponsoring one of the three race days, as well as North Sails.
Registration for Multihull Cup 2025 takes place from 14:00 on Thursday 25 September, with the Race Day 1 warning signal at 12:00 on Friday 26 September.
