Our last marine industry newsletter for 2023 and we hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and are looking forward to a prosperous New Year!

The Sailing Museum, home of the National Sailing Hall of Fame, is celebrating the end of a successful year - the first full year in its new space, the historic Armory Building in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. Anticipating a period of growth in the near future, the leadership and management team of The Sailing Museum has grown to accommodate the vision of the board. Ashley Householder was promoted to serve as Executive Director and Erika Holshoe was hired as Communications and Marketing Manager. Most recently, Jared Casci joined as Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator, Kelly Connell filled a new position as Special Events Manager and Michelle Zachary took the new role of Development and Membership Manager.

With gratitude, Cruisers Yachts is honored to announce its ongoing commitment to giving back to its local community by participating in the annual Toys for Tots campaign. Toys for Tots is a program managed by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. It aims to deliver the magic of the holiday season to underprivileged children by providing them with new, unwrapped toys. Throughout the years, Cruisers Yachts has exemplified a strong sense of community responsibility by continuing to contribute to this initiative each year to give back to the community that has given them so much.

The United States and European Union (EU) have reached an agreement to not reimpose Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the EU and Europe's retaliatory tariffs on American exports into the EU, including American-made boats. This has remained a top priority for the NMMA, as the Section 232 tariffs caused several key international markets, including the EU, to impose retaliatory tariffs on uniquely American products. On December 19, the EU announced that it would extend the current suspension of tariffs on American products until March 31, 2025. U.S. and European officials have consistently met over the past couple years, and most recently, in Washington, D.C., to discuss several geopolitical and economic issues. While a permanent resolution to end the Section 232 tariffs and subsequent retaliatory tariffs on American products, such as recreational boats, remains elusive, extending the time for negotiations and continuing to suspend tariffs on U.S. products is a positive step forward. The Recreational and Fishing Foundation are excited to announce the availability of the 2024 State R3 Program Grants to help fund state agencies' sustainable and replicable angler and boater recruitment, retention and reactivation (R3) initiatives and plans that focus on increasing fishing license sales and boat registrations. Now in its third year, the award nominations represented teams from 11 facilities and seven countries around the world. Combined, the estimated annual environmental benefit includes: 10.6 million gallons of water saved. 3.9 kWh of electricity reduced. 429 tons of waste diverted from landfill. 2,207 metric tons of CO2e emissions avoided.
