Emirates Team New Zealand has confirmed that MBIE and Central Government have decided not to back the 38th America's Cup hosting in Auckland. Since winning the 37th America's Cup in October last year The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Emirates Team New Zealand have been intent on exploring the possibility of hosting the 38th America's Cup in Auckland with the understanding it would take a combination of private backing, Local Government as well as Central Government support to make it happen, but not at the expense of funding other priorities in the tough economic climate.

The Marina Industries Association (MIA) invites organisations with an interest in working with marina businesses to exhibit at the Marinas26 International Conference and Trade Exhibition. Taking place on May 25-26 at the Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, Marinas26 offers the most efficient and effective way for industry suppliers to connect and engage with key marina industry influencers as they gather in one location across two days.

Also from NZ, The Auckland Captains' Long Lunch, hosted by Rivergate Marina and Shipyard and Catalano Yacht Services Aotearoa, proved to be an outstanding gathering. It brought together superyacht Captains and support services from around the South Pacific. The gathering welcomed 27 attendees, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and collaboration. The event was held at Onemata in the Park Hyatt, which offered stunning views of the Auckland Viaduct, along with exceptional food and service.

From the USA, BRP Inc announced this week that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell 100% of the outstanding shares of Telwater to Yamaha Motor Australia, a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co. The acquirer has been established in the region since 1983 and a key player in Australia's boat industry. This transaction follows BRP's decision to sell its marine businesses to channel its efforts and investments towards its core Powersports activities, thereby enhancing its position for long-term success.

New Yachts: the Pegasus 67 is an owner-driven, shorthanded, easy-to-handle blue water cruiser. By internal hull volume, she is a typical 60-foot volume sailing boat. But big enough to accommodate a longitudinally placed 3.5 m dinghy garage and hydraulic gangway. Performance shorthanded sailing and easy manoeuvring are possible due to low loads, reduced sail area, and light displacement.
