Dear Recipient Name

The Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) has teamed up with the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors (AIMS) to support and educate the industry, and public for safer outcomes of new and used vessels.

BIA CEO Andrew Scott said the partnership would help improve awareness of, and access to, trusted marine surveyors to support the recreational boating and light commercial vessel sectors. "BIA is committed to the promotion of safe, responsible and enjoyable boating," Scott said. "A great day on the water includes public confidence in boats that are being bought and sold."

Another initiative from the BIA of Victoria involves an important event in May. Boating Careers will be exhibiting at the Trades & Tech Fit Career Expo, hosted by the Victorian Department of Education and Training on 8-9 May. In collaboration with Mercury Marine, Boating Careers and BIAV will present an engaging display featuring a boat equipped with an additional engine for students to perform pressure testing on. Boating Careers would love to have female industry representatives to join the stand.

The boating industry aims to improve gender diversity and create a more inclusive environment for women, and your participation can help make a significant impact. If you are a female apprentice or a female in the boating industry, and you could please spend a few hours on the stand, it would be greatly appreciated.

A more recent event took place over 6-7 April. Ensign Yachts participated in the Pittwater Sailing Yacht Show at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Pittwater. They were happy to say it was a huge success, with warm and sunny weather after Friday's big rain event. Their award-winning models at the show were hugely popular; the luxurious Bavaria C50, innovative Nautitech 46 Open, sleek and sporty J/Boats J/99, and the elegant Tofinou 9.7. Plus, alongside their sailing yachts, they had their feature-packed demonstrator Rhea 730 Timonier. The Ensign team said it was great to see so many people at the show and to take them through their display models.

The Hamburg-based insurance specialist Pantaenius celebrates its 125th anniversary. Currently, Pantaenius Versicherungsmakler GmbH serves approximately 5,000 medium-sized companies from five locations: Düsseldorf, Eisenach, Kiel, Munich and Hamburg. The Hamburg location has characterised Pantaenius from the very beginning. In 1899, Johann C. Pantaenius founded a brokerage firm for marine insurance in the Free and Hanseatic City. His successor expanded the business in the 1920s to include property and life insurance.

In 1963, Harald Baum joined the company, and today, his children Daniel, Martin and Anna are at the helm. Harald took over Pantaenius in 1970. He developed a new type of hull insurance for yachts. His innovative approach revolutionised the yacht insurance business. Over the following decades, Pantaenius expanded its business to ten locations in Europe and Australia. At the end of the 1990s, the yacht insurance business was separated from the traditional brokerage business into a separate company.

Superyacht Australia has retained the reigns of hosting the "Crew Party of the Year" on the Superyacht Australia calendar of events, with 87 captains and crew from thirty-one yachts currently residing in Sydney Harbour. The abrupt onset of stormy weather did little to deter guests from attending the tropical themed party, held in the character filled Royal Australian Navy Sailing Association, with uplifting beats from DJ Emalia Jane.

Aimed at fostering connections between event sponsors, captains and crew, the Endless Summer Party celebrates the end of the busy charter season, held prior to farewelling the superyachts and crew who will venture north chasing the warmer winter weather to explore the Whitsundays, the Great Barrier Reef or further abroad into the Pacific waters of Vanuatu, Fiji, Tahiti, PNG and Indonesia.

Marine Rescue Brunswick will bolster its rescue capability with a new state-of-the-art life-saving device after being awarded an Australian Government Stronger Communities Grant. Marine Rescue NSW Northern Rivers Zone Duty Operations Manager John Murray said the Federal Government grant has aided the unit to purchase the region's first ever USafe, a motorised remote-controlled lifebuoy for rescue missions on local waterways including the Brunswick River, Simpsons Creek, Marshalls Creek and offshore.

"The USafe is a versatile and reliable piece of equipment that will assist our volunteers greatly in their mission of saving lives on the water. It is also reassuring for boaters, paddlers and swimmers who use our local waterways that this valuable tool is at the ready should they require assistance," Murray said.
