Arthur's Dead - the new book by Thomas Jobling

by Thomas Jobling 4 Dec 2016 06:05 PST 4 December 2016

A dramatic story with gripping sea scenes

The County Antrim based yachtsman turned novelist, Thomas Jobling has just launched his newist book - ARTHUR'S DEAD. Another work of maritime fiction, this time he has eased his unique writing style away from competitive sailing themes towards 'cruising in company' creating a tragic romantic novel. A bunk book.

Something terrible happened to a maritime outing that started badly, and continued in the same vein... It was some ten nautical miles off the Northern Ireland coast. It was a Sunday.

Arthur and Bronagh McKitterick-Kirk's story opens in Northern Ireland and closes in dramatic fashion at a County Dublin quayside. They find themselves trapped, in silence, within the confines of their twenty eight foot long cabin cruiser. On a turbulent North Channel, this tale of tragic romance turns into a dramatic rescue and is detailed, as only an experienced yachtsman could do. It is no secret that Arthur dies, the wider question is how, and why?

This gripping sea-tale is set in the near present. A dramatic storyline, peppered with humour, it twists and turns before entering very dark waters, both afloat, and ashore. Throughout, it carves a deep and moving commentary on the up's and down's and indeed the pitfalls of volatile relationships. Volatility was something that the McKitterick-Kirks had in abundance. In private however, Arthur and Bronagh were just an ordinary a loving couple - that was, until 'the incident' which visited them unannounced, some years previously.

Bob Fisher however, offers up a cautionary comment: 'don't be fooled - Arthur's there till the very end.'

When trust has been swamped by the cancers of jealousy and alcohol induced assumption, this affair plays itself out as indeed... a tragic romance.

Arthur's Dead is available to download from Amazon onto either Kindle devices, ipad or smart phones. However, if a paperback is required, please contact the author directly by email or mobile: or +44(0)7809691585. Follow Thomas Jobling on Facebook, or open his website, www.tnjobling.com.
