Fresh from announcing its Australia and NZ operations returning to factory ownership, Horizon Yacht Australia has appointed a new National Sales Manager. Tony Jones will join Mark Western and Erica Rae, based at Sanctuary Cove on Queensland's Gold Coast, and will head up the regional sales team, devising strategy and liaising with Horizon HQ.

Tony is no stranger to the boating business. He started out as a marine engineer on the Gold Coast and acquired his solid practical and commercial knowledge working with two of the largest boat manufacturers in Australia.

"I was with both of those companies for roughly 10 years each, which took me all over the world, first as a service manager and then into a sales position. I am excited to be joining Horizon as they move into the next phase of the brand's development in our region."

Throughout his career, Tony admired the Horizon motor yachts that emerged from the state-of-the-art headquarters in Taiwan and was impressed with the company's ambition and evolution over three decades.

"Horizon has been around for over 30 years, they are a solid financially strong and reputable luxury yacht builder giving them a durable competitive advantage over so many other yacht manufacturers," he stated.

"I was motivated to take up the opportunity at Horizon because of the outstanding quality of the product range. As soon as the dealership network became factory owned and backed the decision was very easy. It means that we can take trades, organise events for clients, deliver exceptional service.

"There is just a whole heap of excitement around the decision and what we can now do with Horizon Yachts in Australia and New Zealand."

Starting with the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show, Tony is eager to apply his "enthusiasm, professionalism and a wealth of knowledge within the marine industry" in his new position.

He says he is excited to be joining a young, determined team and contributing to the company's next step.

"Horizon founder, John Lu has given us what I think is a very conservative target in our market, and with the young talented team that we have put together, I really believe that we can more than double his expectations, especially with some of the exciting new product such as the FD series of yachts that have taken off on the global market. The first one of these arrives to Australia in September."

There is sensational buzz surrounding Horizon's new FD series, says Tony. "The boat has been a huge hit globally and I have no doubt its success will be replicated in Australia. It's just perfect for cruising and entertaining – two things that have become synonymous with boating in Australia."
