Ensign Ship Brokers at The Boat Works, Coomera has welcomed two new model Bavaria sailing yachts ahead of commissioning for clients, with delivery in time for summer sailing – the first of several Australia-bound in the next few months.

The Bavaria C50 Style, which was sold at the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show, is the first of its kind in Australia and destined for Lake Macquarie. The Second, a Bavaria C45 Ambition race version was purchased by a high-profile racing identity and long-standing Bavaria client based in Brisbane.

In June, a C45 Style was commissioned at The Boat Works, using the diverse array of talented trades on-site, before heading north to its new home at Airlie Beach.

"We are carrying out most of our commissioning now at The Boat Works because it has the best, most reliable service and quality of trade service on the east coast," explains Lee Randall, senior broker at Ensign Brokers and Bavaria Yachts Australia.

"We are working towards undertaking all our commissioning here given of the ease of process and the proximity to the entire marine precinct, plus its centralised location to east coast cruising grounds. Owners can head north or south for their maiden voyage."

The German-made boats are the first in the new range of yachts, boasting refreshed styling and boosted features.

"Sydney was the first show in the world where the new C Series was on show, after its launch in Dusseldorf in January," says Lee.

"Hull numbers 4 and 5 are in Australia and there are three more on their way. Feedback from SIBS was that the new Bavaria product is so much better than anything on the market – which is very pleasing. People commented on the quality of the inclusions and finishes."

Bavaria was recently bought out of administration by a private equity fund based in Berlin. Such is the stature and reputation of the brand that even during adversity, sales were steady and in Australia, demand did not skip a beat, according to Lee.

"Bavaria is a German brand and renowned for its superior engineering and efficiency. You certainly get a lot more for your money, excellent options and class-leading performance.

"The new Bavarias look a lot more edgy now. They have an aggressive profile and features you'd associate with bigger yachts. Even in the 45ft boats, you have twin cockpit tables and underdeck furling systems which have historically been reserved for the larger, higher spec models.

I am very proud of the new product line-up and the scope for customer customisation."

Project Manager of the commissioning process was Alexis Bisbas, Director at Sea Spray Marine.

He commended all the trades and contractors at The Boat Works who worked on the two Bavarias, including Kingfisher Cruisers handled the keel and rudder installation, as well as anti-fouling. Odyssey Marine Electrical carried out all electrical commissioning work throughout the boats, Rope Solutions handled the masts and rigging, Marine Trade Supplies was the source of a variety of items for plumbing and other aspects of the project.

Rainman supplied the watermaker, Trim Workz crafted the covers and cushions, and Marine Mechanical Solutions Yanmar diesel predelivery checks.

The team at Sea Spray Marine will handle the final detailing, preferring Dulon polish for all surfaces.

"We're looking forward to welcoming more Bavarias and Nautitech cats through Ensign at The Boat Works, supplying us with a lot of work into 2019," said Alexis.
