RIMTA Future, an organization that comes under the umbrella of the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association and is focused on cultivating the industry's leaders of tomorrow, will host a panel on career paths for women in the marine trades.

"Women in Marine Industry Businesses: An Exploration of Career Paths" will be held on the evening of Tuesday, November 27 at Newport Yacht Club (110 Long Wharf, Newport, R.I.) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

The event will feature a panel of four women who have all used their passion for boating and being on the water to forge a career path in the marine industry.

The panelists work at marine companies in Rhode Island and come from different sectors of the industry. Panelists include: Heather Hovanec, the first female boat builder on the Aquidneck Custom Composites team; Martha Parker, a big-boat competitive sailor and businesswoman who founded Team One Newport, a retail sailing apparel company established in 1985; Tara Regan, the first woman to be hired as general manager for The Hinckley Company boat yards; and Kate Wilson, a leader in marketing & communications and founder of risingT Media.

Panel moderator Holly Ashton of IYRS School of Technology & Trades will ask these four women to discuss the steps they took to get to where they are today, the challenges they face, and what they see as the best practices for building a successful career in the marine industry.

This is an excellent program for young and mid-career professionals working in the marine industry, and especially women currently working in the marine trades or those who aspire to join this industry.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8, or purchased at the door for $10.

Visit RIMTA website at www.rimta.org for more information, a bio of all panelists, and a link to the event's ticketing page.
