With record temperatures happening around Australia some will be wishing it was winter again and a reminder of that time of the year presented itself this week with the notification by the Boating Industry of Australia that the 2019 Sydney International Boat Show "Invitation to Exhibit" is now available.
Boat Shows are an integral part of the industry's annual marketing activities with business occurring not only with visitors to the Show but also amongst exhibitors. B&G has a 60-year long tradition of providing racing technology for global sailing competitions such as the Volvo Ocean Race and America's Cup. SailGP is an annual, global sports championship featuring six national teams going head-to-head in the fastest racing boats in the world.
Racing takes place in five iconic harbors around the world, culminating with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race. The one-design competition sees teams competing with identical equipment and boats: the supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense short-format racing at electrifying speeds exceeding 50 knots.

This month, they look at their core block range: the Carbo block. To ensure Harken blocks last as long as they should, it is important to maintain them properly.
Make sure to rinse them through with fresh water after sailing on salty water, and wash them with warm soapy water when possible. To reduce friction and to repel dirt inside the block, you can use McLube's OneDrop Ball-Bearing Conditioner: simply put just one drop of the conditioner into the ball-bearing race and spin the block until all of the surfaces are coated. It is really important not to use a dry lubricant on any ball-bearing blocks as these cause ball-bearings to skid, rather than roll, which can create flat spots.
