Boston Whaler Purchasing Manager Kim Shaller has been named as an honoree in the Manufacturing Institute's 2019 STEP Ahead Awards. Shaller is among 130 women who will be honored at a STEP Ahead Awards ceremony on April 11 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

The STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Awards program recognizes women who have accomplished success within their companies and have proven to be leaders in the industry as a whole. Shaller is in excellent company, alongside honorees from companies including Boeing, Intel, Toyota, Harley-Davidson, Johnson & Johnson and many others among them, Whaler's parent company, Brunswick Corporation, whose Vice President of Tax Judith Zelisko was also recognized.

"Boston Whaler is proud to congratulate Kim on her richly deserved STEP Ahead Award recognition," said Whaler President Nick Stickler. "Kim has been an employee of Boston Whaler for more than 25 years, during which time she has continually had a positive impact on the company, implementing process improvements and efficiencies that have been instrumental in our success. Through the years, Kim has also been a generous mentor to countless others, and has played a leadership role in several community outreach initiatives."

In addition to honoring the leaders of today, STEP honorees are tasked with paying it forward and further encouraged to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers, after attending a 2-day professional development program in D.C. With the support of manufacturers across the United States, STEP Ahead has become a highly successful grassroots movement dedicated to overcoming the skills gap and attracting, retaining and advancing high-quality female talent.
