Wide Bay's newest marina has launched an introductory offer that will guarantee boaties a range of benefits - including discounted berthing rates - from the moment it opens later this year.

Located at the mouth of the Burnett River and a short walk from the recently upgraded Burnett Heads Town Centre, Gateway Marina Burnett Heads is in the final stages of harbour dredging and expected to be completed in time for the marina to be opened between August and December this year.

With an initial release of 56 private berths, the marina is offering a Founding Members package that includes a 10 per cent rental discount, a guarantee of first rights to buy berths if released for sale and first viewing of completed apartments.

Gateway Marina developer Simon Harvey said the coastal marina would offer boaties a safe, sheltered harbour with great navigable depths only 16km from the heart of Bundaberg.

"After years of planning, we are excited to be so close now to welcoming our first boats into Gateway Marina and their owners will enjoy great benefits from day one," he said.

"As well as being in an accessible and picturesque location at the mouth of the river, the marina will offer many of the modern conveniences boat owners are looking for including a 24-hour automated fuel dock, free Wi-Fi, convenience store, chandlery and onshore bathroom and shower amenities.

"We will also be operating a free shuttle to Bundaberg and concierge services, along with a courtesy car being available upon request.

"We are committed to ensuring that from day 1 our founding members will be as comfortable as possible at Gateway Marina and can't wait to welcome them later in the year."

Mr Harvey said marine lovers would also benefit the region's climate and safe swimming waters.

"Bundaberg's climate is officially the most equable of any Australian town or city - and fifth on a worldwide comparison - with yearly average highs and lows of 26C and 16C," he said.

"Unlike many Queensland destinations where stingers are an issue, the waters off Gateway Marina are also safe to swim in all year.

"The residents of Wide Bay are blessed to live in one of the country's great coastal destinations and Gateway Marina will offer not only them but those from further afield a safe and convenient place for their boats to call home."
