The Australian Marine Export Group has announced an impressive and diverse line-up of both Australian and international speakers for this year's ASMEX conference.
ASMEX is the flagship marine industry conference in Australia and will be held on 20-21 May at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sanctuary Cove immediately prior to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
Now in its ninth successful year, ASMEX holds a reputation for its provision of quality information, valuable networking and providing industry with opportunities, solutions, and outcomes to grow their businesses. This year the conference theme and focus is "Driving innovation and sustainability" in the marine industry.
Topics will include Japan hosting the Tokyo Summer Olympics next year, the 2021 America's Cup in Auckland along with new infrastructure being opened in time for the expected increase in vessels these events will bring. Panellists and speakers will be discussing what's installed and the opportunities that will arise for Australia.
International speakers will include Philipp von Arnim from Lürssen Yachts, the German shipyard well renowned for their large luxury yachts, and Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder of Italian superyacht builder Cantiere delle Marche who are a market leader in building long range explorer yachts from 26-35m.
Benetti Asia will also be attending both as sponsors of the Gala Dinner Pre-Dinner Drinks and with Peter Mahoney, General Manager of Benetti Asia, as a speaker.
Local speakers will include Andy Ridley, CEO of Citizens of Great Barrier Reef presenting on the true state of the Great Barrier Reef.

ASMEX 2019 will commence on Monday, 20 May with the Sydney City Marine Welcome Function hosted directly after the first half day's program with expert speakers in the industry in attendance. ASMEX 2019 Day 2 on Tuesday, 21 May, will comprise of further presentations and panellists from leading speakers followed by the popular Breakout Sessions in the second half of the afternoon with three separate groups focusing on Marine Exports, Commercial Marine, and Super yachts allowing delegates to attend the breakout session that is the most relevant or of interest to them.
A social highlight of ASMEX is the 2019 Australian Marine Industry Awards Gala Dinner to be held on the evening of Tuesday May 21. The Awards Dinner celebrates industry excellence in the Marine Export, Commercial Marine, and Super yacht Industries. The Gala Dinner and the Australian Marine Industry Awards is an opportunity to reward high achievers in the industry and for the marine industry to celebrate their achievements.
