Goldspar continuing the journey

by Phil Yeomans 4 Sep 2019 22:22 PDT

Whilst this is a Press Release announcing that DeckHardware is now looking after the promotion and distribution of the Iconic Goldspar range, there is more to the story than two Companies coming together.

Over 50 years ago Phil Yeomans walked into his Father's office and met Doug Rawson-Harris who was starting out at the Architect Firm working with Colin Madigan. Phil remembers his Father mentioning the work done on the Warringah Council Library at Dee Why, New South Wales, as well as a number of other prominent Australian Buildings.

Phil's Father Peter would go on to become a Marine Artist, Doug also turned to his Sailing background and the Goldspar Brand was developed becoming an Aussie Icon.

Mel Yeomans commented "Whilst knowing my parents had known Doug for my entire life and the Goldspar Brand was one I knew of having used the products growing up, I admit I had not realised the history till Doug talked to my father Phil about this opportunity. I guess you could say some things were meant to be especially in the world of sailing. Working with a brand such as Goldspar is certainly exciting for us."

The Goldspar Group of Companies with its head office in Sydney Australia was formed in August 1979 by Doug Rawson-Harris, a designer and engineer by profession. The use of specialist alloys, manufacturing techniques and 30 plus years of experience delivers products of the highest quality and reliability.

Goldspar equipment is renowned for its strength and finish and is sourced by recreational elite competition sailors alike. Goldspar fittings and spars have been used by World, Olympic, European and Australian competitors.

The company in the early days specialized in the design and manufacture of sailing equipment, including yacht masts and booms, later expanding to include flag poles, light poles, sporting posts and other aluminium tubular products. In 1996, Doug Rawson-Harris designed and developed the first Multi-Function light pole system known as the Smartpole. This won him the Australian Design Award for Industrial Design in 1998. It was further developed to become known as Multipole™, which leads the industry in smartpole design and technology.

Goldspar is committed to the supply of exceptional products to meet and exceed the needs of it’s customers.

DeckHardware is a Family run business and in December 2016 celebrated 10 years of owning DeckHardware. Robyn, Phil and Mel have worked in the Marine Industry for over 55 years combined, predominantly within the Sailing Industry.

DeckHardware works with Suppliers from around the World including brands such as Allen, Antal, LIROS Ropes and Schaefer Marine as well as being proud supporters of Australian Sailing in all forms.
