Welcome to the latest weekly newsletter from Marine Business World. The website goes from strength to strength and one of the reasons is our ability to post the very latest news updates from the local marine industry within hours of receipt. We welcome updates that include new products, new boats, new people, new technology, in fact anything that keeps the marine industry informed.

Currently we are in award mode with global electronics company Lowrance, part of the Navico group, announcing that the Ghost Trolling Motor has won Gold at The Best Design Awards, brought to you by The Designers Institute of New Zealand. The Best Design Awards is an annual showcase of excellence in graphic, spatial, product, interactive and motion design along with four boutique awards.

A further indication of the innovation of the electronics section of our industry was US manufacture, Garmin International, named Manufacturer of the Year for the fifth consecutive year by members of the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) for its support of products in the field.

A new dealer has been appointed for the Cranchi range of power boats in Australia. Italian luxury motor yacht builders Cranchi announced t|d Terence Dean in Melbourne (Docklands) as Australia's national dealer and distributor for the highly impressive range of luxury Italian boats. Boasting a range starting from a bold 26-footer to a soon-to-be-released highly anticipated 78-foot dream motor yacht, Cranchi is ready to "set-sail" in this country.

Another Australian dealer, Multihull Solutions, is expecting a strong turnout to its stand at the 2019 Mandurah Boat Showcase in Western Australia on 16 - 17 November. The Asia Pacific multihull specialists will be exhibiting the Lucia 40, one of Fountaine Pajot's most popular sailing catamarans at the event. The Mandurah Boat Showcase will be held at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club with free entry, and the show promises to be a lively weekend of marine action, social events, entertainment and an ocean of industry information. The Multihull Solutions team will be on hand to discuss all aspects of buying, selling and enjoying multihulls.

And powerboat technology continues to develop. Quick Marine products in Italy have just announced the beginning of an exciting collaboration with major UK boat manufacturer Sunseeker. An official announcement has just been made that the new Sunseeker Predator Evo 60 model will be offered with the Quick X19 Gyro Stabiliser. These revolutionary machines have a patented vertically spinning mass as opposed to the traditional horizontal spinning mass, making the Quick gyros smaller, less complex and most importantly, air cooled as opposed to water cooled. Gineico Marine are the exclusive distributors and service agents for the Quick Gyro Stabilisers in Australia and New Zealand and Pierluigi (PG) Gambacorti from Gineico was very enthusiastic about the news coming from Sunseeker.

Overseas at the world's largest marine trade show METSTRADE in Amsterdam, VETUS is introducing a range of new products including the larger models of its BOW PRO Boosted Thruster, plus the STERN PRO thruster and BOW18024D, and its latest water strainers, waterlocks, portlights, ventilation hatches and re-designed roller blind/fly screen. The BOWB180 and BOWB210 are equipped with all the features of the BOW PRO series, plus there is a third connection on the motor which leads the current to an internal charger, stepping up the voltage from 12V to 24V. This allows a 12V charging source, such as the propulsion engine alternator, to charge a 24V battery bank.
