As part of the annual Australian Marine Industry Awards, the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) is pleased to announce a new award for 2020 focusing on developing the youth in the industry.

The 'Apprentice of the Year' Award will be added to an already extensive line up of existing award categories.

This exciting new award will recognise and reward apprentices for outstanding performance and commitment to the Australian marine industry. It will grant opportunities for those nominated to be acknowledged for their hard work and dedication as well as celebrate the achievements of our future tradespeople whilst encouraging continued excellence and longevity in the workplace.

Applicants for the inaugural 'Apprentice of the Year' Award will initially be assessed at a state level, with all finalists being invited to attend the awards ceremony in May, giving them the chance to boost their career with recognition from the industry.

One lucky winner will be awarded the ultimate prize of a trip to Amsterdam with flights, accommodation and transfers to attend the 2020 METSTRADE Show, the largest marine equipment tradeshow in the world held in November.

David Good, CEO of AIMEX said, "Introducing this new award category is the first step we are taking as part of our strategic focus on recruitment and training for the marine industry and we look forward to announcing further plans and activities around this initiative in the near future.

Good added "I strongly encourage senior management and key industry players to support this new award and the lifeblood of our industry, ensuring our skilled workers are maintained and recognised for their contribution to the success of the Australian marine industry."

The 2020 Australian Marine Industry Awards application forms and further information about eligibility and how to apply are available at asmex-conference.com.au/awards.

Submissions close on Thursday 9 April, 2020. The full line up of awards will be presented at the annual Australian International Marine Industry Gala Dinner event on the evening of Tuesday 19 May at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.
