US Sailing and Gowrie Group / Chubb have announced a new multi-year sponsorship extension with the goal of supporting sailors and sailing organizations in the U.S. with high quality and effective insurance programs and resources.

Gowrie Group will continue to serve as the Official Insurance Partner of US Sailing. Chubb, the world's largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company, will underwrite the commercial insurance programs provided to sailing organizations.

Gowrie Group, the nation's leading and largest independent marine insurance agency, has been offering custom marine insurance programs to US Sailing members for nearly 25 years as part of this long-standing relationship.

Programs like the Burgee Insurance Program for sailing organizations, the One-Design Insurance Program for one-design sailboats under 30 feet, and the Crew Medical Health Insurance Program for individuals have all been developed to serve and support sailors and sailing organizations.

Insurance offerings provided by Gowrie and Chubb will help US Sailing strengthen its commitment to supporting sailing organizations and the sailing community as a whole.

"US Sailing, Gowrie Group and Chubb have a deep and productive relationship that has provided the sailing community with customized insurance programs, along with useful knowledge and resources for more than two decades," said Jack Gierhart, CEO of US Sailing. "Yacht clubs, community sailing programs, sailing schools, class associations, Regional Sailing Associations, and event organizers are the foundation for the sport, and we are committed to helping them manage their businesses and serve their members by developing programs that improve their sailors' experience on the water. Our affiliation with Gowrie and Chubb serves as a cornerstone of these programs and crucial for the health, safety and sustainability of the sport."

Ed Gumbrecht, Managing Director of Gowrie Group, said, "The protection that Gowrie and Chubb provide is unwavering in our ongoing support of US Sailing's mission, as well as our commitment to bring the very best coverage to the sailing community."

The insurance solutions and special pricing that Gowrie Group offers to U.S. Sailing members on their programs are some of the most valuable benefits that U.S. Sailing extends to its membership base. Gowrie Group's primary offerings for US Sailing members include:

  • The Burgee Program: Specialized insurance solution for yacht clubs, community sailing programs, and sailing organizations. More than 1,100 sailing organizations nationwide are part of the program. Underwritten by Chubb and managed by Gowrie Group.
  • One-Design Insurance Program: Insurance tailored to meet the needs of one-design sailors in over 170 classes of boats under 30 feet.
  • Crew Medical and Health Insurance: Worldwide health insurance coverage for qualified US Sailing members that are professional sailors, coaches, instructors, US Sailing Team athletes, collegiate sailing athletes, paid crew/captains, and international cruisers.
For years, Chubb has played a central role in supporting US Sailing National Championship events. Chubb will continue their position as title sponsor for the historic Chubb U.S. Junior Sailing Championships.

The event annually features a collection of the best youth sailors in the U.S. who qualified from different regions around the country to compete at this championship.

Gowrie Group will continue to have a strong presence at many of US Sailing's signature events. Gowrie will be a top-tier sponsor and contributor at US Sailing's 2021 National Sailing Programs Symposium (NSPS) next February in Savannah, Georgia; US Sailing's Regional Symposiums held around the country throughout the year, and the Sailing Leadership Forum in 2022.

Three of Gowrie Group's Burgee Program and safety experts - Whitney Peterson, Kellie Crete, and Steve Schram - are active speakers and content contributors at these important US Sailing national and regional events.
