Raritan alarm warns against reverse polarity

The quality and reliability of marina shore power wiring can vary greatly. When plugging into an unfamiliar 120V AC pedestal, it's important to be certain that it's safe. Installed on the boat, Raritan Engineering's Reverse Polarity Alarm generates an audible alarm that warns owners of potential electric shock, fire and/or electrolysis damage. It provides peace of mind that the electrical service is safe and trustworthy.

Raritan's Reverse Polarity Alarm meets American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) E11 standard. It specifies that such a device should have a minimum resistance of 25,000 ohms.

Ideal for refit and OEM, the Reverse Polarity Alarm is installed near the main AC panel, within earshot of the shore power inlet. Simple to use, when the cord is plugged into the boat and nothing is heard, the polarity is correct. If the device makes a loud buzzing sound, the neutral wire is hot and the shore power should be disconnected immediately or damage to the unit may occur.

Compact, the Raritan Reverse Polarity Alarm measures 10.1cm L x 7.6cm H x 5cm W and weighs 141.7gm. It comes with a one-year warranty.
