Gozzi Mimì plans three new world debuts at the Genoa Boat Show

by Gozzi Mimî 12 Sep 2020 11:19 PDT

Domenico Senese's shipyard is taking part in the Mediterranean's biggest boat show (October 1 to 6, 2020), with the presentation of its latest models, the Libeccio 11 Walkaround and Libeccio 9.5 Walkaround, characterized by their perfect blending of sportiness and elegance, and the 8.5 Classic, a sophisticated tribute to the Sorrento skiffs (gozzi) of the 1960s that also exploits all the benefits of modern technology.

At Genoa there will be, also, Libeccio 6.5, Libeccio 7.0 Classic, Libeccio 7.5, Libeccio 8.5 Open and Libeccio 8.5 Sport. While the Libeccio 11 Cabin powered by two 250 hp engines, launched last year, and since then hugely successful, will be at the Yanmar booth as test boat.

Reflecting the Yard's mission to innovate while respecting tradition, they are all designed by the renowned Valerio Rivellini.

Gozzi Mimì, which has been building boats under the guidance of the Senese family for 45 years, will be making a serious splash at the Genoa show with three new world debuts. "We're very proud to be at this important event where we're presenting three new boats that won't go unnoticed, given their undisputed innovative content and, as ever, deep respect for tradition," said the Yard's manager Domenico Senese.

All the models on show were designed by Valerio Rivellini, a long-standing partner of the Yard whose work in the pleasure boat sector is well known for its perfect merging of form and function and its balancing of modern and traditional.

The Libeccio 11 Walkaround is a gozzo with a difference, designed to appeal to young owners seeking the ideal pay-off between refinement and performance. This model transforms the concept of the traditional Mediterranean skiff so that it also appeals to more modern owners who love elegance but are demanding in terms of liveability and sportiness.

The world's only gozzo to have a stern garage for tender and toys, the 11 Walkaround has two cabins, a galley and a bathroom.

The Yard's second new development, featuring generous liveability and ample floor space like the previous model, is the Libeccio 9.5 Walkaround, a youthful model with a centre console and, astern, an innovative mobile bar (with fold-away seat) that can also be used in the galley. The boat's interior offers a dinette and a double bed, to which a queen-size bed may be added.

The unmistakeable style of the Libeccio 8.5 Classic, on the other hand, is more clearly inspired by the past and its design is a tribute to the Sorrento gozzos of the 1960s. It represents the perfect combination of classic tiller steering with the latest technological innovations, thanks to which it has a top speed of 20 knots.

It can therefore be thought of as a classic gozzo with all the advantages of modern technology, plus some almost futuristic touches. It has an electric winch, courtesy lights and plexiglass panels behind the steps that lead up to the forward sundeck. The forepeak provides a spacious double cabin.

Gozzi Mimì will be at the Genoa Boat Show (Stand 10 AA) from October 1 to 6.
