The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, announced today plans for the fifth Annual Texas Salutes the Coast Guard, held in a virtual format November 12, 2020, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time. Port Houston is being honored for its steadfast support of the Coast Guard Foundation, and its meaningful partnerships across the maritime and supporting community.

The event committee chair is Judith Roos, Coast Guard Foundation Director. Keynote remarks will be delivered by ADM Karl Schultz, USCG, Commandant of the Coast Guard and VADM Charles Ray, USCG, Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard. The emcee for the evening will be Reggie Rivers, former Denver Bronco and benefit auctioneer.

Mission spotlights will include the Foundation's 2020 scholarship program, which awarded more than $500,000 to deserving Coast Guard children who are enrolled in higher education, as well as recent emergency relief support to Coast Guard members and families impacted by Hurricane Laura in Texas and Louisiana.

Lead sponsors include: ABS, AET Inc., Limited, Cheniere Energy, ConocoPhillips, Huntington Ingalls Industries, Jones Walker LLP, Phillips 66, Port Houston, SeaRiver Maritime and Teekay Shipping (USA), Inc.

"We are grateful, during this challenging year, for the continued partnership of our sponsors and supporters like Port Houston," said Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation. "The brave men and women of the Coast Guard are vital to the safety and livelihood of all Texans. We look forward to joining with people and organizations from all over Texas who are eager to say thank you to these incredible individuals."

"We are grateful to be honored at this year's Texas Salutes the Coast Guard event," said Roger Guenther, executive director, Port Houston. "We work closely with the Coast Guard year-round as they protect the Houston Ship Channel, and we know the immense value they provide to that waterway, our region and our nation. We are proud to join the Coast Guard Foundation as they honor the men and women of the Coast Guard who help keep us safe every day."
