J/70 South American Championship announcement

Chile started their Qualifiers for the next J/70 South American Championship to be hosted by Cofradía Nautica del Pacífico in Algarrobo, Chile from December 7th to 12th, 2021.

The Chilean J/70 fleet had the first of two qualifier days last weekend, with twenty-two boats on the starting line. The last four boats will not qualify and will be available for charter during the event.

Conditions were very good with winds of 15-24 kts on Sunday and from 13-20 kts on Sunday. Some of the crews, with just a few hours of sailing in the last year, did their best to succeed in the tough conditions. In the end, the current leaders in the Chilean qualifying series of 12 total races are the following:

  1. Pablo Herman's New Wave New Wave (11 pts)
  2. Alejandro Pérez's Peligro (16 pts)
  3. Diego Gónzalez's Halcon (18 pts)
  4. Francisco Pérez's Eleonor Rigby (18 pts)
  5. Pedro Cabezón's Los Rollings (20 pts)
The Chilean J/70 Class is making a strong effort to host an amazing J/70 South American Championship and put together between 25 and 30 boats for this great event from December 7th and 12th, 2021. They invite all J/70 owners to participate and remind them of the deadline for the low entry fee is November 10th, 2021.
