Scania, one of the world's leading manufacturers of engines for boats, trucks, buses and industrial applications, announced today it was selected by a customer for installation in a new Maritimo M55 long-range cruising flybridge motor yacht build. Scania's DI13 900 hp engines are offered as a factory-installed bespoke option on all Maritimo Yachts, and this marks the first M55 to be delivered to a U.S. customer.

"When we announced the M55, it immediately became our biggest launch to date," said Dave Northrop, president, Maritimo Americas. "The current demand for Maritimo motor yachts, particularly this extremely popular model, is unprecedented. We want to assure our current and future customers that they have an intimate ability to customize these vessels to meet their specific wants and needs. Our repeat clients are confident in selecting Scania after our Australian counterparts have been installing them for several years with exceptional results. The reliability, support, low cost of maintenance and fuel economy have all been key elements of the ownership experience."

"Our recreationally certified engines have industry-leading power-to-weight ratios, are easy to maintain and incredibly reliable," said Dave Hughes, sales manager - marine products, Scania USA. "Yacht customers are typically very hands on and while the selection of color palettes and cushions are an integral part of appointing a new vessel, choosing Scania engines shows exceptional taste. We are sure the new owner will be pleased with his vessel and look forward to several future builds slated for later this year."

The new M55 is the latest evolution of the iconic flybridge motor yacht series, a series renowned for long-range cruising efficiency, build integrity and ocean-tested performance, all of which Maritimo's esteemed legacy has been built upon. A fine balance of power and play, the new Maritimo M55 fuses the latest advancements in nautical technology and design with the iconic features of Maritimo's M-Series models of the past. Australian built, its sharpened exterior design, extensive entertainment areas, and high performance reset the international standard for long-range cruising motor yachts.

"We'd also like to congratulate Maritimo on an excellent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and the continued success of their new M55," continued Hughes. "We are excited to be partnering with them on several newly-confirmed builds."

Built on a Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) engine block and employing a simple wastegate turbocharger, Scania engines deliver top-of-class performance without the need for additional turbos or superchargers. The resulting lighter weight, combined with Scania's proprietary Engine Management System (EMS) and common rail extra high-pressure injection system (XPI), optimizes fuel delivery enabling impressive torque, lower noise and exceptional fuel efficiency, certified by the EPA to meet the Tier 3 Recreational standard for marine diesel engines. Guaranteeing ease of ownership and minimal downtime due to repairs or scheduled maintenance, Maritimo owners will also benefit from Smart Support by Scania - an intelligent, intuitive and predictive system of providing superior support and service for customers in North America.
