Politics of Fish - New podcast launched

by American Sportfishing Association 4 Feb 2022 11:58 PST

As fun and relaxing as fishing is, fisheries policy is the opposite. However, the legislative and regulatory issues that we at the American Sportfishing Association work on have a huge impact on the public's ability to fish.

The Politics of Fish podcast will explore the people, organizations and issues that impact the sportfishing industry in an engaging and informative way. This new ASA initiative is designed to strengthen our voice and expand our reach. Released on a biweekly basis, each episode features an exclusive interview with a leader in the sportfishing community as we unpack critical recreational fishing policy issues.

The podcasts are free to the public and are available on all major podcast channels including Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and Podbay.

Our first two episodes feature ASA President Glenn Hughes speaking about the association's future, and Pure Fishing President Dave Bulthuis speaking about his background and why he got involved in fisheries policy.

As the year unfolds, I look forward to expanding the podcast and sharing other ASA communications products related to recreational fishing and our policy goals. These new communications outlets will help keep our members up to date on the latest in sportfishing news and provide a platform for influencing policymakers and influencers about our industry.

I hope you enjoy future episodes and come away with a better understanding of the complicated but important world of fisheries policy!
