MIA appoints Ed Shute as MIA Membership & Programs Manager

by Marina Industries Association 28 Feb 2022 23:08 PST

The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Shute to the newly created role of Membership & Programs Manager. Working across all areas of the business, the role has been introduced to support the MIA's expanding membership and member programs.

While the Association has grown significantly over the last decade, the MIA's professional staff numbers have remained stable. MIA CEO, Suzanne Davies explained, "This is a new position which will take the MIA staff numbers to four and will increase the Association's capacity to deliver stronger support to industry and members. Last year we introduced several new initiatives, including Marine Jobs, My Marina Guide and three new education courses, and we have plans to deliver more in 2022. To ensure that the MIA is adequately resourced to maximise the potential value of all our programs, support our members and explore all opportunities that present, additional capacity is required. I have worked with Ed in the past, he has a good understanding of our industry and will bring a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to the MIA."

Ed brings to the MIA his passion for boating and over 15 years of marketing and business development experience across the tourism, hospitality and marina sectors. His experience also includes a successful retail/wholesale start-up business which he successfully ran for over a decade. As we prepare to launch new initiatives this year, Ed's skillset will be invaluable to progressing MIA initiatives and helping members take advantage of all the resources available to them as members.

Ed commented, "I am really excited to join the MIA team. I have experienced first-hand the importance of the MIA programs and how they assist marina businesses to increase their efficiency, remain compliant and grow stronger. I look forward to working with all members to help them get the most out of their membership."

Andrew Chapman, President of the MIA commented, "This is an exciting period for the MIA. We are a progressive organisation that is continually seeking ways to expand our support to members and their businesses in meaningful ways. Ed will spend much of his time out and about with members, learning about their businesses and helping members get the most value from their membership. On behalf of all members, I welcome Ed to the MIA team."
