The cancellation of the US IBEX trade show means we'll miss seeing those of you who'd normally be in the aisles this week, and helping us celebrate our 60th anniversary in person.

Attention in the US is on Florida. We hope everyone who needed to leave IBEX has done so successfully. May those living in danger zones be safe.

On behalf of those clients in our international PR program exhibiting at IBEX, below is a summary of new products you would have seen, plus some tried-and-true problem-solvers.

As for us, we'll be at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida (October 26-30) and at METSTRADE in Amsterdam (November 15-17) and hope to see you there. You can always see the most recent press releases for all of our clients at www.martinflory.com and we're always available at for requests.

New products

Caframo - 12V OEM Defogger outperforms all others

Co-designed by Caframo and Groupe Beneteau, the SEEKR by Caframo OEM Defogger makes moisture-obscured windshields a thing of the past. The CE- and ABYC-certified heater fan is engineered and built to the high standards that both companies are renowned for. Now in use on Jeanneau's Merry Fisher line of multipurpose powerboats, the device will be on display at the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition & Conference, 27-29 September, Tampa, Florida, US, booth 3-536.

Unlike competing products, the two-speed OEM Defogger provides a full 400 watts of finned positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heating power. Yet with all this performance, it consumes a mere 37.5-39.5 amps. It can clear a 2sqm windshield in under five minutes and will automatically shut off after five minutes. An integrated safety thermostat provides peace of mind.

The ultra-reliable OEM Defogger 12V DC brushless motor is quiet and long-lived. Its durable black polymer housing has an industry-standard 55mm connector to be compatible with multiple vent and ductwork arrangements. It measures 15.3cm D x 24.6cm W x 36.1cm H and weighs 6.5kg. The SEEKR by Caframo OEM Defogger (model 9601) is made in Canada.

Problem-solving well-known products

Accon - Convenient hardware speeds fender hanging

Tying off lines to position fenders before arriving at the dock can be a repetitive and time-consuming chore, particularly when boating solo. Series 401 Quick Release Fender Hangers from Accon Marine make bumper deployment and stowing a snap.

Formed from ultra-durable 316 stainless steel for long life and extreme corrosion resistance, Series 401 Quick Release Fender Hangers utilize a convenient two-piece design. This enables organizing of lines ahead of time, then quickly snapping them in place for rapid bumper deployment at a consistent length.

The surface-mounted base measures a mere 91mm L x 30mm W and installs with two #10 stainless screws. Each fender line attaches to a separate steel ring pin, which plugs into the base with a gentle push when bumpers are needed. Upon leaving the dock, sliding a small tab on the base releases the entire setup for quick storage.

Accon Marine Quick Release Fender Hangers come in two sizes: the 401-R-.5 with a 13mm ring diameter; and the 401-R-1 with a 25mm diameter. Both models stand under 51mm H with the ring pin in place to minimize deck clutter.

Hella - Underwater lights provide serenity or excitement

With Apelo underwater lighting brilliance from Hella marine, it's as easy to create an atmosphere of serene dockside luxury as it is to amp up the fishing and watersports excitement. Offered in a wide range of housing and light combinations, the compact surface-mount LED fixtures boast IP68/IP69 waterproof reliability and a unique illumination experience.

Each 95mm Apelo LED lamp is robotically manufactured in New Zealand using Hella's industry-leading technology. CE-certified to comply with EMI (electromagnetic interference) standards, they won't disrupt onboard navigation or communication. Featuring 12/24 Multivolt technology, the fixtures automatically compensate for voltage fluctuations due to low battery and/or long cable run drop, and are protected against reverse polarity and power spikes. Advanced thermal management enables operation out of the water, ideal for trailerable boats. A video is at bit.ly/HellaApelo.

The Apelo A1 model delivers 1,800 lumens of vibrant blue and white or RGB illumination. Optical intelligence produces a wide horizontal swath of light with a narrow vertical angle for a one-of-a-kind effect. Available with a white or charcoal faceplate, it has a corrosion-resistant thermal polymer housing and high-strength UV-resistant Grilamid lens.

Hella's Apelo A2 provides 3,000 lumens of blue and white with a "fishing mode" strobe or RGB lighting, and introduces Edge Light. This state-of-the-art technology generates unique glowing signatures bright enough for daylight visibility, without the intensity of the main Apelo LEDs. The A2 models are offered with bronze housings and white faceplate, or hard-anodized aluminum with charcoal.

Hella marine Apelo A1 and A2 LED underwater lamps offer a robust surface-mount system with hardware included, pre-wired with 2.5m of tinned multicore marine cable. They're backed by a five-year warranty.

Hubbell - Advanced Y Adapter aids safe dockside connections

Cruising boaters visiting new destinations can face challenges when the marina's shorepower system differs from that of the boat. The Hubbell Marine YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter allows owners to easily correct 30A and 50A connection mismatches for safe, reliable electrical service anywhere.

Designed for boats on 50A service, the YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter utilizes two 30A dockside receptacles on separate phases to provide full power to the vessel. Its intelligent internal logic checks that connection polarity is correct to protect against mis-wired circuits and phase errors.

This technology also determines whether both dockside plugs are engaged. If not, an internal 3-pole contactor breaks both hot and neutral circuits to guard against the possibility of a live, unconnected plug.

Hubbell's YQ230 features fully molded connectors and a rugged thermoplastic outer housing that is both UV- and impact-resistant for long service life. Fully grommet-sealed against humidity, fog and rain, the unit incorporates innovative cord clamps to help prevent strain on terminals.

A safety indicator light confirms correct connections. The Hubbell Marine YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter is offered in high-visibility safety yellow.

Raritan - Atlantes Freedom Toilet provides residential comfort

Many boat toilets have dimensions similar to a five-gallon bucket—and are nearly as uncomfortable. The Atlantes Freedom™ from Raritan Engineering offers residential-style comfort in both full household and elongated bowls, and the option for the familiarity of a traditional stainless steel flush handle. Plus, it's available in white or bone to complement any classic or contemporary interior marine décor.

Made in the USA, the Atlantes Freedom is the original one-piece porcelain china marine toilet. Easy to clean and maintain, it stands a full, comfortable 432mm H. The household bowl measures 489mm L x355mm W; the elongated version is 545mm L x 359mm W.

Featuring Raritan's VORTEX-VAC™ discharge system, the Atlantes Freedom creates an internal vacuum that doesn't require remote pumps. Yet with all this power, toilet operation is whisper-quiet.

Inside the Atlantes Freedom, the robust macerator has stainless steel blades that shred waste into small particles for efficient and reliable flushing. Unlike many marine toilets, the discharge loop enables the boat to hold water similar to a residential device, but only requires two pints to flush.

Raritan offers the Atlantes Freedom with a wide range of flush controls. Ideal for guests, handled models are available in momentary or timed versions. A multifunction wall control offers fill, empty and flush modes, while the Smart Programmable Control has a normal flush and a water-saver mode.

With the SeaFresh option, the Atlantes Freedom allows the owner to flush with raw water to conserve valuable onboard supplies. A simple switch reverts the system back to fresh water flush to rinse-out the toilet lines to reduce odors.

The Raritan Atlantes Freedom is offered in 12V, 24V and 120/240VAC. It comes with a one-year warranty.

Schmitt Marine - Torcello Elite steering wheel wins award

Chosen from among a landslide of nominations, Schmitt & Ongaro Marine's Torcello Elite steering wheel has been named a 2022 Boating Industry Top Product of the Year. It was selected by the US recreational marine industry publication's editors for its innovation, impact on the industry and how it advanced its category.

Few things on a boat have the power to convey a sense of luxury as much as the steering wheel. The Torcello Elite does just that. Wrapped in hand-stitched marine-grade synthetic leather, it delivers a hand feel that matches that of a premium automobile. Designed to be customized in quantity to match virtually any boat interior, the 35.5cm polyurethane wheel can be manufactured in an endless array of leather and stitching color combinations. The three thick stainless steel spokes are available in polished or black anodized finishes to enhance the décor. A choice of attractive center caps are offered, including OEM-branded. NMMA certified and CE marked, it's available with a 19mm tapered or optional splined hub.

"We're pleased to receive this recognition from the editors of Boating Industry," said Watson "Roby" Holland, VP of sales and marketing. "As we were developing the Torcello Elite, we knew it would be unique within the industry, but to be acknowledged with a Top Product award is a huge honor."
