As we enter the summer boating season in Australia, we look at what the future holds for the marine industry globally. A new report suggests that the global electric boat market growth is driven by rising inclination toward solar-electric boats, increasing network for charging points in marine infrastructure for small boats, and installation of superchargers at smaller ports.

The Insight Partners latest research study on "Electric Boat Market Size, Share, Demand, Growth Strategy, Industry Trends and Forecast to 2028 - Covid Impact and Global Analysis - Boat Type, Battery Type, Application, and Geography" suggests the electric boat market is expected to grow from USD 5.26 billion in 2022 to USD 11.35 billion by 2028; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.7% from 2022 to 2028.

As the seascape changes it is pleasing to note the activity around future employees. d'Albora is looking for extraordinary people to join their industry-leading team. In Victoria the Victorian Boating Industry Association have held their Apprentice of the Year Awards, and they wish to convey their thanks to all finalists. Congratulations go to all of the fantastic finalists! They were Danny Smith, Jared Cameron, Max Humble, Finn Vant Slot, Jay Jay Be Zar, and Zak Murphy.

And an extra special congratulations to the winner and overall Apprentice of the Year, Zach Murphy! Zach works for Aqua Power Marine, completing a Certificate III in Marine Mechanical Technology at Kangan Institute. Thanks also to Katherine Grech (BBV) and Scott O'Hare (BIAV VP) for taking part in what was a fantastic presentation on the MitchMarket Stage during the 60th Melbourne Boat Show.

It was a great occasion and everyone involved should be very proud. The future of the industry looked great that day!

Meantime the Australian Marine Industry Awards will be sending their winners to METS. The Awards, organised and hosted by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), cover categories for the superyacht, commercial marine and marine export sectors of the industry. The AIMEX Award is proving extremely important as businesses recruit, train and support their new team members embarking upon a career in the Australian marine industry.

Each Australian Marine Industry Apprentice of The Year winner receives complimentary return flights and accommodation to Amsterdam to attend METSTRADE 2022 with the Australian industry delegation. METSTRADE is the world's largest trade show for marine equipment, materials and systems. For any young apprentice, this highly sought-after award offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the marine industry internationally and boost their career.

And the future also includes next year's boat shows. Exhibitor applications are now open for the highly anticipated Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2023 (SCIBS), which will take place May 25-28. After the sold out 2022 event - which saw over 45,000 visitors and 334 exhibitors with 607 boats on show and over 1000 marine products - SCIBS has been inundated with exhibitor enquiries.

Returning exhibitors are encouraged to register before COB Thursday, November 17 to receive priority access to their 2022 space. Mulpha Events General Manager Johan Hasser says they are expecting to exceed previous year's exhibitor numbers. "With the success of the 2022 event, we have seen consistent enquiry from the industry eager to secure their space for 2023," says Mr Hasser.

A perfect balance of strength, performance and reliability. Maximum working loads for the new Series 40 Orbit Blocks™ range from 400kg to 1000kg (HHL versions).

And Eyachts will be importing a new Pardo in future. Pardo Yachts have unveiled their latest project: the Pardo GT75, set to accompany her younger sister Pardo GT52 in the range. With her nearly 23 meters in length the GT75 is going to enhance the winning features that have already made the GT range unmistakable.

The new flagship of the Pardo Yachts fleet is positioned between the Walkaround and Endurance ranges, where the focus on extremely comfortable interior volumes goes hand in hand with the hull lines typical of a high-performance 75-footer.

Stay safe,
