Finally, boot is back - the relief is clearly noticeable in the water sports community and among the Düsseldorf trade fair organisers. What was the annual highlight for the industry until 2020 had to take a forced break due to the pandemic. The longing was all the greater for boot to finally be launched again.

Now it's boot Düsseldorf 2023. From 21 to 29 January, just before the Rhineland's great days, a magical nine days of trade fair await with numerous boat and yacht premieres, a new diving tower, the sustainability forum "blue innovation dock", holiday regions from all over the world in the "Destination Seaside", tips for beginners and professional sailors and with wingfoiling and wingsurfing the hottest current water sports trends await their fans.

In figures this means: over 1,500 exhibitors in 16 exhibition halls on an area of 31 football pitches, translated into square metres: 220,000! Companies from 68 countries are on board. Nine hands-on activities and theme worlds invite sports enthusiasts and sea lovers to put their hand to the tiller themselves, get on the board, dive in, paddle or simply listen to exciting reports and exchange ideas with like-minded people. To ensure your personal participation slot, every active person should register for their desired sport at www.boot.de.

In the 54 years of its existence, boot Düsseldorf has also repeatedly proven itself to be a driver of innovation. As early as the 1970s and 1980s there were numerous forums on the subject of marine research. Diving pioneer Jacques-Yves Cousteau - "The prerequisite for knowledge is curiosity" - had chosen boot as his presentation platform and proclaimed here the protection of the seas as the declared goal of divers. In 2023, boot once again proves to be the initiator and motor for marine and water protection as well as a sustainable strategy in boat building and marina expansion. The "blue innovation dock" in Hall 10 will provide impetus for EU-wide measures over the nine days of the fair. The "love your ocean" stand in Hall 14 will also delight little explorers. There will be large measuring instruments from marine research, a microplastics lab and an algae lab to explore. And with the "ocean tribute Award", whose list of winners also includes Boris Herrmann with his Malizia team, boot Düsseldorf, together with the Monegasque Prince Albert II Foundation and the German Ocean Foundation, have created an internationally highly regarded and renowned prize. This year the "ocean tribute Award" will again be presented live in front of an audience on 23 January. The laudatory speech for the winner will be held by the well-known actor and ocean activist Hannes Jaenicke.
