Introduction of diesel engine emissions standards

by Boating Industry Association 9 Feb 2023 04:13 PST 21 February 2023

BIA members involved with the supply, installation and service of marine diesel engines should note that the Australian Government is currently evaluating the potential for a new standards regime to manage emissions from non-road diesel engines, which would include marine engines over 130kW.

Australia currently has no regulations to control noxious emissions from non-road diesel engines, and options being considered will include no change to current arrangements, voluntary and regulatory options. A cost-benefit analysis report of the options has been produced and a series of webinars is now being presented to discuss the report with specific industry segments.

The marine industry segment will be covered in a webinar on Tuesday 21 February 3pm to 3.45pm AEDT. The webinar will be held on MS Teams; to join, please visit here.

The BIA team will attend the webinar, but it is strongly recommended that members with an interest also consider attending to understand more about what is being considered. BIA will follow this matter and report/provide input as required.
