The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is pleased to announce that Gladstone Ports Corporation's (GPC) Gladstone Marina has become the latest marina to be awarded the coveted 5 Gold Anchor accreditation.

The beautiful and well-maintained marina is located on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, at Gladstone Harbour in Central Queensland and is perfectly positioned to explore the secluded anchorages, tropical islands and pristine coral reefs of the area.

The expansive marina has over 320 berths for all types of vessels ranging from nine metres up to 45 metres and includes a variety of services to help boaters refresh, relax and explore.

Showing a strong commitment to the environment, GPC's Gladstone Marina is also an accredited International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly Marina.

In announcing this award, Suzanne Davies MIA CEO praised the marina: "5 Gold Anchors is among the highest accolades that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers consistently high standards of service and facilities. It is great to see the upgrades the marina has made in recent years to improve the quality of facilities and services for both locals and those transiting through the marina. GPC's Gladstone Marina is a worthy recipient of 5 Gold Anchors."

On receiving the 5 Gold Anchor award David Osmond CMM, GPC's Gladstone Marina Superintendent said, "Attaining 5 Gold Anchors is a testament to our facilities, quality customer service and the hard work put in every day by our professional and expert marina and parks teams. We're delighted to have been recognised at this level and look forward to continuing to provide an excellent marine experience for many years to come."

The Global Gold Anchor is an international accreditation which requires a rigorous assessment of a marina's services, procedures and facilities. It involves an independent audit of 86 criteria across all areas of the business plus a customer survey. The accreditation aims to inform consumers as to the level of services and facilities at marinas and to provide marinas with a set of benchmarks to maintain and a pathway for continual improvement.

Developing the marina industries through education, accreditation and research.

Davies further commented, "The MIA's focus is to grow the Gold Anchor program and build awareness of the accreditation with the boating public, we are very excited by GPC's Gladstone Marina's successful accreditation and encourage more marinas to join the program."
